Happy weekend, dear friends on Hive, I hope you are all having a great day wherever you are. It's another exciting edition of the Hive learners creative Sunday, and I sure have an interesting DIY fun project to share with you. It's the making of a fingerless glove. I recently made a beautiful Prom dress for a friend's daughter. To add more unique details to her dress, I decided to make these gloves, and they sure add the extra details.
Gloves are a fashionable item that has been for existence for a long time, it's not only wedding couples that wear them, and another interesting thing is that they can be styled with any fabric of your choice.
To make these gloves, the materials used are:
Your fabric, I made use of shining organza fabric
Matching coloured thread
Taperule
Scissors.
Measurements needed depend on the length you desire for your gloves and also your round upper measurement, so it would be easy for your hands to pass through. If you are using a stretchy fabric, you could make it fitted, but if your fabric isn't stretchy like mine, make sure to leave an ease allowance.
Cutting And Sewing Process
- I started by cutting a rectangular piece of fabric, the length was determined by measuring from above her elbow to her wrist
- Next, I placed it on a fold and sewed the open area, leaving about a 2-inch gap when almost reaching the end of the other side, then I skipped and sewed the rest of the end. This opening will serve as the opening for the thumb.
- I also folded both ends
Then, turning it to the other side, here is how it looks,
- I thought it looked plain, so I attached flowers randomly to the gloves. You can see how stunning it looks, feel free to get creative with yours, however you want as well.
