I can still vividly remember the first time I used the internet, I had been so eager to be a part of the other world I'd heard so much about from my peers, the reigning website at that time was Facebook, though I didn't have any personal device to connect with the internet, we were still lucky to have Cyber Cafe as it was called then, where we pay for a certain amount of time to use their old generation monitors and keyboard with network connection, I remember saving my lunch money for few days to afford some time that would enable me to spend enough time to create an account and maybe view some of my classmates profile, because I didn't know there was so much more I could do.
It was so much fun and exciting, even fulfilling for me to finally be a part of the online world, little did I know the best was yet to come, as time went on, mobile phones became accessible and affordable to everyone, and then came the rise of smartphones, the interactions online as seen today has become so much that we can't still get enough of. I was speaking to someone today and asked her how life would have been if we still lived like people of the old times without internet access talk more about smart devices, of course with the way the world is today, depression would have been on the rise, without anything to distract us which is one benefits of some of the content we see on our feed.
I would say the monetization of online interaction is more of a blessing than a curse, there are so many people out there who now put more effort into content creation, doing the things they are passionate about because of the opportunity presented online, no longer do young people have to wait and work their whole into their 60s before making wealth for themselves and family, the monetization of social media has also helped motivate and improve us.
Although we can't deny the fact that some bad influence would take advantage of this opportunity as well, in the name of wanting to make more engagement or interaction, being dubious with clickbait, fake news, thereby misleading others as well, well such is life as where there is good, the bad side must lurk or show face somehow, reason why every user of the internet must be aware of these sets of people, and be more careful before clicking any links, also make sure to verify news from the right or original source before spreading them,
Monetization of social shouldn't be taken down, because can cause a full blown job loss worldwide, that is how much monetization of social media has become to humanity, as a small business owner myself, through social media, I've been able to market my brand and likewise get customers from different part of the world.
I believe everyone in this age has a story or their part to tell as well, maintaining balance should remain the key than take us down.
