If I wasn't aware of days when things were sold for very little, such as the kobo in my country Nigeria, I probably would have assumed that life is normal and going well economically for Nigeria, but no, things are extremely hard now, the kobo coin and its like has gone into extinction, I beg done 20's kid don't know what our prestigious coin looks like.
To think that the tales of my parent in their younger days was even more better than during the time I witnessed the use of kobo only shows that the economy has not and doesn't even have the intention of obeying the law of gravity, things get going higher every day, no matter how much we complain, it is now a difficult task to afford just a square meal for even a normal family of four, if you don't spend up to 5000 naira at a go, then it must be a somewhat unhealthy meal.
The recent cash crises in my country have opened a lot of eyes as to why things keep on getting higher every day, number one being the government and their policies that don't consider the welfare of its citizens, especially the low-income earners and secondly, will it surprise you to know that we are the primary cause of our very own problems, a lot of us are greedy and heartless, traders especially, they hike the prices of their goods taking advantage of the general inflation, even if those goods were gotten for cheaper amounts, they don't care.
It is only left for us to survive this hard time, as a family woman with children who needs healthy food daily for them to grow healthy at this stage, the means I use to survive the inflation are as follows
1 cultivating a little garden
I am not a farmer, neither have I ever learned how to farm, but having vegetables like pumpkin, scent leaves, tomatoes, okra and pepper, etc readily available in my little garden at home has eased a lot for me, because biting these veggies from the market is too pricey and I won't even be able to afford the quantity I desire, my little garden has eases that discomfort for me.
2 Buying in bulk
What some people don't know is that buying in bulk saves more cost than buying in little quantities, and also reduces the tension and stress of always going to the market daily, and discovering that there is a regular increase in price compared to how you got same item yesterday, it can be so annoying, trust me, I've been there, now it is to buy in bulk and manage moderately, hopefully, things we get better for my beloved country, Nigeria
We shouldn't give up on life because of the inflation and things becoming harder, we should only learn to adjust and adapt in a way that is suitable for us and our income, also getting an additional source of income can go a long way to ease this current inflation for us.
