The mobile phone and specially the smart phone has changes the way we think about the mobile phone. It's not just the way of communication only, it's more then that, it's a watch, a alarm clock etc. With the introduction of internet the possibility become more. It's very easy to access the internet on smart phones and this is lead to the introduction of social media like Facebook, twitter, Instragram etc. Their are a lot of people who most of the time are online on different social media platforms. This also become the source of income for many people. In today era a few people on world are existing who do not use any of the social medial platform. It attracted the every age of people form a 2 year small kid to a old age person of 70-80 years, everyone is using some short of social media platform for with entertainment or as a content creator. The way it get into our lives it's not easy to take it out. One way it's good also as we get all information with just one click but every good and some bad also, if their are advantage then their will be disadvantages also. Same is applicable with social media platforms also. Many users waste their precious time on watching the unnecessary videos and their are good number of such users which are in their childhood age. This is the time for them to learn and do the study but instead of that they spend a significant hours time on those social media platforms. Some are so addictive that they can not imagine single day of them without the social medial platform and you may have also observed some people check their phone very frequently as this becomes their habit to check the notification even know that they become addicted.
We understand that the social media platforms become the part of our lives and it's not easy to be away from them. And it's also necessary if we want to be inline with the technology. Now the topic become the point of debate which is related to the our social media handles only. Some companies asking the candidates applying for the job to submit the social media handles. Is it good or bad? Is it ethical or social ok to disclose or ask the social media handles as this is something which belongs to the personal life of someone. Their were some incidents happened in recent time also were this question becomes the point to debate. Think of a scenario where someone troll in past someone else. At that time their may be big chance that they may not know each other but their are good chance that when the candidate will disclose their online identity he/she may caught easily. This may also leads to the disqualification of candidate.
Their may be some companies which more care about the reputation of the company and their is nothing wrong in my opinion. If the personal action of someone harm the image of the company than I am sure in such cases the company will take strict action. On the other and it looks unethical also, on personal level someone has their own opinion and the thinking. The creator and the audiance has to understand the difference between the company environment and the personal choices.
Someone working with the defence forces always on high risk of fishing. Their were new in the past where someone form armed forces fall into Honey Trap and become the victim and held guilty for the leak and faced the consequences. In such cases the companies give instructions to their employees to not mensioned the company name or their profession life on the social media platforms. This also helps upto some extent to avoid or reduce such incidents. Whem we heard that the candidates has to handover their social media handles to the company only the negative thoughts come into our mind but their may be a opposite scenario. Anyone with good fan following may also become the asset for the company. The company can use him as the marketing strategy and employees can also get some extra rewards for promoting and marketing the company through his handle. This may become positive thing for candidat and reason for their selection.
In my opinion the answer to this question is very tricky and all depends on some situations and conditions. If I have to choose between my dream job or handover my social media handles then I guess I will go with the option of handing over the handles. I will try draw a line between the professional and personal life with my best efforts but sometimes many things are not in our control.
