I was always very romantic in my relationships. I used to create an ideal in every woman that I dated. The first woman that I had a bit more of a close relationship with, I met through a friend. The first date was amazing, that ideal movie theatre kiss. I was very happy. Later, I realized that she had some problems with her work. I don't remember exactly what type of work she used to do in an office. It was hard to date her because she was always working.
The second date finally happened in a work day. I picked her up from work and we went to somewhere near her work, more precisely a shopping mall. She was dressing a formal suit, I remember her hair being a bit messy. Most of the talk was about problems at work. It is quite weird for a second date when we are still meeting each other and the topic was all about her work. However, one thing was remarkable from that date. We were eating together and there was a family seated near us with a small child. The child was screaming all the time. My date got very annoyed and screamed at the child, who she didn't know, to stop that. Everybody in the restaurant just stopped and looked at her.
She was stressed in her work, and after the date, we talked a bit on the phone, and that was clear. She mentioned a recurrent migraine included. I tried to do my best to give some advice, she preferred to step away from me. It was sad to see that her current high emotions through her work probably were a big decider for that. I am not a psychologist but she was mostly in the middle of a burnout.
That was my first experience with someone completely drained by their work. My wife had some problems with that in my past as well which were challenging for her, but she could curved it out doing some stuff. First learning how to deal with herself. The burned out person usually doesn't recognize their limits and allow other people to step out into their limits. You continue to accept tasks in an unlimited way. If you don't stand out, then no one will do it, even if there are people who try to convince you that you are harming yourself, like I did many times. Fears about the future, especially in economic ways, are the main cause of people not allowing to see their limits. Fear of losing job or fear of people not noticing how much you are worth are probably the motivation of people allowing pushing what they can do.
Humanity is always surrounded by fear and mostly people live to pay bills. Because of that, our jobs usually take a big importance in our lives and when we do that, the chances of burnout are high. One day, humanity changes a bit the workflow of " living to work to pay bills". We will see a decrease of this problem, but until then, maybe we should all be more self-conscious about our limits and create boundaries where supervisors and co-workers shouldn't step in.
Eu sempre fui muito romântico em meus relacionamentos. Eu costumava criar um ideal em cada mulher que eu namorava. A primeira mulher com quem eu tive um relacionamento um pouco mais próximo, eu conheci através de uma amiga. O primeiro encontro foi incrível, aquele beijo ideal de cinema. Eu estava muito feliz. Mais tarde, eu percebi que ela tinha alguns problemas com seu trabalho. Eu não lembro exatamente que tipo de trabalho ela costumava fazer em um escritório. Era difícil sair com ela porque ela estava sempre trabalhando.
O segundo encontro finalmente aconteceu em um dia de trabalho. Eu a peguei no trabalho e fomos para algum lugar perto do trabalho dela, mais precisamente um shopping. Ela estava vestindo um terno formal, lembro que seu cabelo estava um pouco bagunçado. A maior parte da conversa era sobre problemas no trabalho. É bem estranho para um segundo encontro quando ainda estamos nos conhecendo e o assunto era todo sobre o trabalho dela. No entanto, uma coisa foi marcante naquele encontro. Estávamos comendo juntos e havia uma família sentada perto de nós com uma criança pequena. A criança gritava o tempo todo. Minha acompanhante ficou muito irritada e gritou com a criança, que ela não conhecia, para parar com isso. Todos no restaurante pararam e olharam para ela.
Ela estava estressada no trabalho e, depois do encontro, conversamos um pouco ao telefone, e isso ficou claro. Ela mencionou uma enxaqueca recorrente incluída. Tentei fazer o meu melhor para dar alguns conselhos, ela preferiu se afastar de mim. Foi triste ver que suas atuais emoções elevadas por meio do trabalho provavelmente foram um grande fator decisivo para isso. Não sou psicólogo, mas ela estava principalmente no meio de uma crise de esgotamento.
Essa foi minha primeira experiência com alguém completamente esgotado pelo trabalho. Minha esposa também teve alguns problemas com isso no meu passado, o que foi desafiador para ela, mas ela conseguiu superar isso fazendo algumas coisas. Primeiro aprendendo a lidar consigo mesma. A pessoa esgotada geralmente não reconhece seus limites e permite que outras pessoas os ultrapassem. Você continua a aceitar tarefas de forma ilimitada. Se você não se destacar, ninguém o fará, mesmo que haja pessoas que tentem convencê-lo de que você está se prejudicando, como eu fiz muitas vezes. Medos sobre o futuro, especialmente em termos econômicos, são a principal causa das pessoas não se permitirem ver seus limites. O medo de perder o emprego ou o medo de que as pessoas não percebam o quanto você vale são provavelmente a motivação das pessoas que permitem forçar o que podem fazer.
A humanidade está sempre cercada pelo medo e a maioria das pessoas vive para pagar contas. Por isso, nossos empregos geralmente assumem uma grande importância em nossas vidas e quando fazemos isso, as chances de esgotamento são altas. Um dia, a humanidade muda um pouco o fluxo de trabalho de "viver para trabalhar para pagar contas". Veremos uma diminuição desse problema, mas até lá, talvez devêssemos todos ser mais autoconscientes sobre nossos limites e criar fronteiras onde supervisores e colegas de trabalho não devem intervir.
