Almost everyone in the country was thrown into a little confusion by this time last year because the prices of commodities experienced over 300% increases. It was so disturbing because many citizens died of hunger, and there was much increase in crime as many people looked for dubious means of getting income.
One thing that is constant in this life is that every living thing looks for a way to eat on a daily basis; as it is now, there is no medication that one will take that will stop him from eating for a while. The rate many people invaded the farm was something else because those that I interacted with said that if not for commercial purposes, they just needed to have food to eat at home because they suffered so much from hunger last season, and they don't want that to repeat again.
On my own part, since at the moment I am not so involved in farming, I decided to spare out some money to buy food for my family so we won't be caught up in the middle of the terrible scenario of last year. Foodstuffs were not the only commodities that experienced this drastic increase, but also the cost of fuel, which had a direct impact on transportation fare. Daily within the week we take the kids to school; initially it was #50 per drop, but now under abeg we are forced to pay #300 each drop, so for a day we spend 1000 or 1,200 each day, and that's how we do it throughout the week.

As a family person on a daily basis, calculating what I spend on feeding the family and transportation is not less than 5k, and that's how we roll throughout the month and the year.Most times it becomes so overwhelming, especially when any member of the family falls sick. At times more than two persons get ill, and it becomes more demanding to take care of everyone. Well, everyone in the country, including me, wishes for things to get better.
There was a little breath of fresh air around February when the price of fuel dropped and beans followed and some cereals too. I was so happy, not minding the fact that I already bought some foodstuffs when the price was on the high side. One thing that made me happy is the fact that the poor masses will have something to eat, and the people will be happy again.
Talking about changing my location, at the moment that's not on my agenda because no matter how high the prices of foodstuffs increase in my area, it's still cheaper than some places like Lagos and my home state. As a family person, there are several things to be considered before changing location. These things include the cost of transportation, housing, access to light, and education. All these are still at a good price in my area, so I won't just run to leave because I am still a young family, and I don't want to put myself in a desperate situation. For life to be a little easier for the people, it is for the government to implement price regulation. This will help to moderate a lot of things. A seller won't just quote a price overnight and want to force everyone to dance to the tune of his music just like that.
