I have been hearing of writer's block and I have experienced it a couple of times but I got a major one when I was trying to come up with this very post.
“You don’t start out writing good stuff. You start out writing crap and thinking it’s good stuff, and then gradually you get better at it.
Octavia Butler
The various tasks given by The Newbie Initiative is not a community contest or prompt that you decide if you want to get involved in or not, it is an assignment that you just have to do willing for your own good.
That being said over to the real deal😃
Do’s and Don’ts of Hive
Engagement As a hivean one of my core responsibility is to engage, dumping posts and vanishing into thin air, and waiting for curators to curate my content is not going to cut it, imagine everyone acts this way, then I guess there will be no Hive in the first place. Engagement is what sets Hive apart from other social media platforms.
By engaging I don’t mean dropping spam comments, how in God’s name would someone drop a “nice post” on a post of 800 words? Bro that’s mean, it's as good as not commenting at all. I really don’t know about other people but I get this warmth from reading other people’s comments on my post and also their reply to my comments on their posts as well.
A beautiful comment can make someone’s day as well as reading a very interesting post. If there is one thing I do not like is people commenting shabbily because it’s a prerequisite for a contest, comment because you really want to.
I will be open to meeting new people, and I will be nice to other people as well.
Original content The aim of this platform would be defeated if there are no original contents, copying other people's work without properly sourcing them is PLAGARISM and it is a criminal offense, Hive's motto goes against this. Imagine you randomly see your work posted by another author without giving credit to you, wouldn't you feel bad? like you literally put your sweat into creating that work just to be copied by someone eventually?
In a bid to remain active on the blockchain I will not write carelessly, I think people write better on topics they can relate to.
I will learn to edit my post properly before publishing them, I will not be in a hurry to click on publish, no one is competing with me, I will write at my own pace. Imagine seeing a post with a great storyline but grammatical errors everywhere. Only God knows how many times I read my posts before publishing them.
Who said editing your post after publishing them is wrong? If you spot an error in your post please by all means edit it!
Vote begging I find this utterly embarrassing, vote begging can be considered as begging strangers for money in real life because honestly, you don't know a lot of people here, allow people to upvote your posts willing, if you are in dire need of upvotes then put in the work, it's way better than shamelessly begging for votes and its a big turn off. I know my parents didn’t raise a beggar as their child so I will never indulge in vote begging.
Tagging I will never tag indiscriminately, even before I read about tagging here on Hive I have allows hated the idea of tagging people recklessly, and if there is something I have noticed by some of the veterans here, even if they are close to a Hivean they'd rather type the persons name than tag them, if you are a newbie please emulate good things.
I will use tags that are relevant to my posts, in a bid to attract whale curators Hiveans end up using the wrong tag for their posts, and may I remind you by doing so you miss out on the right people that would love to read your posts? now you know, so do the right thing😃
Markdown Styles These are formats we use to align, justify and beautify our posts, as a Hivean a good knowledge of the various markdown styles will do me a lot of good. Just the way I see a post well arranged and nice and I am impressed, I too can achieve that but first I must have a good command of the various markdown styles, I will play around with them and you never can tell how my post may turn out to be🙂
Creating our very own thumbnail and highlighting the various steps we took in arriving at our thumbnail was one of the tasks given to us.
For starters, I’m not so good at the whole graphic design thingy but I had to learn anyways and I wish to use more thumbnails in my future posts.
I started by opening the canva application👇

I clicked on the + icon to choose a template.
Choosing my desired template was a hard one because there were so many cool templates to choose from

I finally settled for this anyways and edited the template to my preference I also added my picture to it.
After making all the necessary changes and touches Voilà! I arrived at this😃

I went straight to save it and my link as well

So there you have it people my first thumbnail with my original picture🥳🥰
I am glad I overcame the writer’s block and came up with this and thanks to the organizers of this initiative, @starstrings01 and @justfavour you all rock.
Thanks for stopping by
Loads of Love🥰🥰
