Health should be the most important thing for all of us, and it is known to all, but our actions say the opposite. It’s like we just bluff when it comes to health. We can understand how precious or valuable health is for us when we become sick. In fact, we are forced to understand the importance of health at that time. But it’s good that with time, many people are becoming conscious about health, and they are concerned about their health.
We need to take care of our health properly if we don’t want to be sick, but we have a weird mentality. First, we don’t take care of our health, get sick, and then go to the doctor for recovery. Even we do more reckless things. We practice self-medication, and it’s nothing less than doing experiments on our bodies just to save some money for a temporary time. If self-medication goes wrong one time, we may face a major blow both financially and from a health perspective. We may even lose our lives depending on the situation. That’s the reason I don’t support self-medication, as it can be a deadly move if it goes wrong.
I am a lucky one when it comes to health because I got strong genes from my parents that gave me a strong immune system, and because of that, I rarely become sick. In my entire life, as far as I can remember, I became sick 4/5 times only, and the sickness was fever. So, I am a blessed one in this case, but it doesn’t mean I didn’t feel uncomfortable any time. Several times headaches were an issue, but I have a habit not to take medicine for such kinds of things. I take it as my challenge. I think if I get used to taking medicine for simple things like that, it will increase my dependency on medicine for recovery, and I don’t want that. So, even if I need to bear pain for a little time, I am ready to accept it for long-term benefit.
Doing exercise is a thing that can help to maintain fitness. I don’t go to the gym, and I don’t have a plan to join a gym either. Instead of it, I can maintain fitness and keep myself healthy. Solely depending on genes, it was not possible. It was possible because of my lifestyle. It’s true that I don’t go to the gym and I don’t do any kind of exercise at home either, but I walk a lot. Walking is also one kind of exercise, and I don’t need to put too much effort into it. You can consider me lazy in the case of doing other physical exercises. You can think of many things, but I don’t feel guilty about it.
Another thing is the food habits. It’s the most important. Even if you go to the gym and do heavy exercise, it won’t be effective if you don’t have balanced eating habits. I always try to avoid restaurant food. There are two reasons for it. The first is its unhealthy eating habits, and the second is that it’s not cost-effective. Avoiding it means getting 2 benefits at the same time. Another thing is I don’t take carbohydrate drinks or soft drinks generally. In rare cases, I take soft drinks. It’s also a good habit I have practiced since my childhood. I don’t do exercise, but I have some healthy practices from my childhood, and maybe that’s the reason also I rarely become sick.
We can’t depend on medicine all the time because all medicine has side effects. There is no medicine that doesn’t have side effects. We need to be careful about it and try our best not to take medicine for silly issues. We need to change our lifestyle if we want to live a healthy life, sometimes rather than depending on medicine. It’s the best thing we can do for ourselves.
