From that day onwards that was when new responsibility started and freedom. And whatever I learnt from boarding school was how I survived from University but with a touch of exposure.
I learnt how to save while in secondary school because with the high rate of school fees and other siblings being taken care of and other projects my parents had at hand it was difficult to send pocket money to me and the one sent I made sure I made good use of it, though not enough I started selling my food for money, we call it "trade by batter". I spent the once I could and the remaining ones I saved.
Getting into university was shege promax, the fact is that you will surely spend. Every move, you must spend. If you turn left, money must leave your pocket, if you turn right, money must leave. I just have to leave with these facts and look for alternatives, surely the money wasn't forthcoming. Of course, I tried all the hustling I could lay my hands on both working in a restaurant and handling some minor business. That was how I survived because it was survival of the fittest!
It was one of the best things that happened to me, as I got so much exposure while hustling, I met new people and learnt some tactics of marketing as I was so bad with it.
One more thing, schooling is freedom, you have the right to choose what you want, make your own decisions and of course leave your life. Choosing what lifestyle to live was your utmost decision to make. You either choose right or wrong. The ball is in your court.
I had so much fun with friends, have you eaten 3 pieces of indomie with four people in the same pot? One sunny afternoon after lecture, the four of us were hungry and tired so we decided to hold on to the remaining indomie left in the lodge. I cooked it and brought spoons for each person to dig in. Come and see competition, you can't compete with me because I learnt how to eat fast at home o. Everyone was looking at me like my mouth was cooler as all of them asked at the same time. "Is your mouth cooler" as only me was fast enough to eat to my full. It was very funny as they used me as an example the next day when a lecturer was teaching in class.
Thanks for reading! I would love to share more of my experience but let me stop here.
