For a few minutes, I had to think very hard before I could remember the last rule I broke and what happened next. I had to remember that I had broken a rule at church, which didn't result in anything or me apologizing. Want to know how that happened?
A few weeks before I went back to school, that was over 3 months ago, my church established new rules and regulations, and all members were urged to follow them.
Members were told to stop charging their phones in church during service because the ushers observed that charging causes distractions, and members were always fiddling with their phones during service.
Ushers also noticed a lack of reverence from members who kept checking their phones instead of paying attention to the service. They decided to take action to discourage members from charging their phones during service.
As a result of the church's escos being alerted to the issue of phones distracting during church services, they made this a rule that everyone must follow. They enforced this new rule by warning those found with their phones on to take them away and not use them during the service. The church also implemented a policy that prohibited phones from ringing during services.
Members were also given the option of coming to church very early to charge their phones, or waiting for an hour or two after service to charge their phones.
On the weekend following my exam, I was able to attend church services and our choir concert as well.
Initially, I noticed someone was charging their phone near where I sat, which was the choir stand. I wondered if the person didn't know that charging was not allowed during church services.
It took me a little while to figure out who was charging the phone, but when I looked at the charger and the phone that was charging, it was my sister who left her phone to charge. I called her attention to it and reminded her about the rule, but she didn't seem to be worried about it.
The ushers coming to quiz her made me wonder why she wasn't worried. Since I had a low battery and needed to charge too, I charged my phone. I broke the rule by charging when I knew better not to.
Since I was also carrying a laptop bag, I covered the charging space with the bag, hoping that no one would notice that phones were plugged in. I was relieved when no one seemed to notice.
As I hoped, no usher noticed my phone charging while the service was still in progress until the service was dismissed. After the service was dismissed, I quickly unplugged my phone and put it in my bag. I then left the church and went home.
After that, nothing happened other than me taking my fully charged phone home because I wasn't caught. I was relieved that no usher had noticed my disobedience. I was glad that I got away with it.
Hehe, if I had been caught charging my phone while the service was still on, it definitely would have been a different story.
