Education is the most important and urgent problem for the development of a country. Over time, there have been many changes in the field of education. No one denies the important role of education in building a better and more developed country. Many people are successful in obtaining primary and secondary education which is provided free of charge in most countries, but due to high costs, most people find it difficult to progress to higher education or university education. Therefore, there has always been a debate about whether higher education should be free for everyone.
For most people, it should be free, because access to knowledge is a basic right, and it doesn't necessarily have to come with a price tag. Most people cannot afford the high cost of higher and very large education. Many people feel unable to afford the enormous cost of higher education. So they waste their abilities and talents because they cannot enter universities or colleges. This makes education a privilege of a certain class, not a basic right of everyone. When more people receive higher education, they will have more job opportunities and the unemployment rate will decrease, thereby reducing social poverty and leading to social progress and prosperity.
Another reason for free higher education is the principle of equality, everyone has the right to equal opportunities. In the process of creating free university education, this principle of equality can be pragmatically realized and transformed into reality. If higher education were made free, thousands of boys and girls would be able to receive an education instead of taking on new workloads of time to complete university education.
The other side also disagrees with free higher education which is a big burden for the government. A lot of investment is needed, the cost of tertiary education is too great, and it is important for the people to share some of the burden on the state because the state does not have enough resources and money to receive tertiary education for free. Although there are more student loans and special student fees to help students who can't afford higher education.
Another reason is that if tertiary education is made free then the value of tertiary education will be reduced because the money paid to lecturers costs other costs in faculties and many other university resources will be reduced. therefore once education is given to everyone for free like water in the ocean there is a danger of low quality education.
Overall, while we can see many barriers to free tertiary education, we can also see examples of free tertiary education in some countries, much can be learned from the experiences or experiments in those countries that allow everyone to get tertiary education for free. .
I am of the opinion that if higher education is made free, it will help people who are less fortunate to continue their children's education to a higher level so that all children of the nation will receive a proper and quality education, or for children who are underprivileged they will be given full student fees until they are finished and the same thing is given to students who excel. If education is made free to everyone, there will be a decline in the quality of education in the country and the country will also be burdened with operational costs for higher education institutions such as lecturer salaries, employee salaries, electricity costs and other costs. If a country is rich and the income of the state is quite a lot besides that the citizens are few, then it is very natural that all education costs are free from elementary to tertiary level and even the cost of education abroad is borne by the state, such as the countries of Qatar and Brunei Darussalam .
From my discussion above I can draw some conclusions.
Education is one thing that is very important and must be carried out in a country
Higher education is a teaching and learning activity carried out in universities
Higher level free education is a very good program because it can help underprivileged people to continue their children's education to a higher level
High-level free education if it is given to everyone will burden a country if the country has the status of a poor country.
Free education for everyone is now carried out by countries that have abundant natural resources such as the countries of Qatar and Brunei Darussalam, these countries provide free education from elementary to tertiary level and even free tuition fees abroad.
Thus my discussion on this occasion hopefully useful for all of us and thank you for the support from all my friends
See you in my next post
