Definition of stereotypes
Of course, all of my friends have heard of the term stereotype in social life because this term is a term given to a person or a certain community.
Stereotype is a term that is very familiar in the ears of many people, but only a few know the meaning or meaning of these words. stereotype is a person's rigid judgment of others that is made based on his own adjustments. a class based on difficulty that is not true.
actually there are positive stereotypes but unfortunately most of them give a negative impression, for example the stereotype of someone who is fat is lazy and greedy, maybe we have met a tribe or someone who has a tough character or one of our friends who is fat and lazy, but because we have met people like that so we will assume all people who are fat are lazy and greedy.
It is very unfair to generalize all people because only one or two things are in common, the nature or body shape of other people who are similar to that person, to know the nature and character of them we must know them first. Likewise with us, surely we will not accept or like it if someone thinks of us or judges us either in terms of appearance or from our ethnic origin. only based on prejudice.
Factors causing the emergence of stereotypes
Stereotypes do not appear suddenly
Everyone dares to do stereotypes based on their own personal experiences, usually bad experiences. But apart from stereotyped experiences, they can also arise due to several factors.
Here are some factors that cause the emergence of stereotypes in a person.
family factor
The family is the first environment that is known by a child, the family is also where a person grows and grows up and becomes an adult, and the people in the family become the first teacher for the child.
Because children are imitators, they will imitate whatever their parents do, without realizing that the child will adhere to what their parents say to the child. For example, a mother says that girls must be good at cooking and boys are not. no need. then the two children will make the sentence a stereotype until adulthood and then pass it on to their children later.
Playmate factor
If a child is friends with good people then he will be good, and vice versa if the child is friends with bad friends then he will be bad, especially with close friendships, we tend to believe what our friends say, so we can fall into bad behavior.
School environmental factors
At school is the second place for children to spend their daily time, at school they not only meet their classmates but also meet teachers, it is the teacher who will shape the child's personality, what they teach will always be remembered.
This includes stereotype questions. At school, for example, the teacher says that the children who sit in the front will be smarter than the children who sit in the back.
Media factor
The media destroys a place that provides various kinds of information and knowledge and others. We cannot deny that what media we see and what we read will influence our thoughts. It is the media that shapes our opinion of a person or an event.
Stereotypes I've experienced
I am a child who is very pampered in the family. Every day I get perfect love from my parents. When I want to eat, I am always bribed by my parents. I have never been given fish food or milkfish dishes with lots of spines because they are afraid. I will be stabbed by the fish thorn in my throat. And until now I can't eat milkfish and my children are not used to eating milkfish, afraid of being pierced by fish thorns, and I have never bought fish with lots of thorns, especially milkfish. That's wrong. one stereotype that I have experienced in my family and a stereotype that has been passed down to my descendants.
Conclusion
From my discussion above I can conclude that
Stereotypes greatly affect one's soul and thinking
Stereotypes are not born suddenly but there are causes
The stereotype I experienced was that I couldn't eat milkfish because it had a lot of spines.
That's all I can write about at this opportunity, hopefully it can be useful for all of us and thank you for the support from all of my friends.
see you in my next post
send regards for success
