Hello everyone in the wonderful hive blockchain. I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the weather wherever you are. Welcome to my blog.
Quitting something can be pretty hard, and sometimes quitting is just the best thing to do or the only option. There are so many reasons why people quit doing something. People quit because; they now know the dangers of what they’re doing, they got their senses back, they can’t bear it any longer, or due to some other reasons.
The most difficult thing to quit is addiction. Addiction to anything at all. Yes, there are different types of addiction. You can’t get addicted to minor things, so when you want to quit , you do it effortlessly. And there’s another type of addiction that is always impossible to quit.
For example, people who smoke. My mom is a nurse who works in a big hospital in my state. And she comes home everyday with stories of how people, especially teenagers get addicted to alcohol and drugs. Deep down, a large percentage of them would love to quit, and start all over again. But it is not so easy to quit because it has gotten into their system.
Sometimes quitting is the most difficult thing to do. You might think it is something small, but in reality, it is not. Addiction is not the only thing people try to quit. Some bosses, especially privately owned businesses, give their workers a hard time. But the workers cannot do much about it, because they don’t have a choice. They can’t quit because that is the only way they pour good food to their tables. It is only when they finally realize and come to their senses that they really can’t take any longer, that’s when they finally quit.
Everyone of us have most likely found ourselves in a situation where we have to quit. What was it? How was it? Was it easy?
My Experience
I’m still a teenager, but I have a lot of work experience. I’ve worked with different t bosses in different organizations. I’ve worked with the nicest boss on earth and I’ve also worked with one of the meanest bosses.
I don’t know if this is how it is in other parts of the world, but here in my country, there’s something about privately owned businesses. Here in my country, these people do as they like. They act and say things without remorse or human empathy. They treat their workers anyhow they like.
That’s why government jobs are totally different and better. Your boss (employer) is in charge of your salary. And he/she can fire you anytime, that’s why it is wise to be always careful around them.
I started working right after I graduated from high school. My first ever job was a teaching job. I got a job in a primary (elementary) school in my area. The school needed teachers, so they gave me the job almost immediately.
I was so happy that I got the job. I mean, if you were in my shoes I’m sure you’d also be pretty happy. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I’m one determined person. I didn't have casual clothes. I had to rush to the store to buy some.
I started work on a Monday. The school owner who was also the principal told me I’d teach a class two subjects. Even though the pay we agreed on wasn’t really good, I decided to take it like that. I was really nervous that day. I was so nervous that my hands were shaking.
Well, my first class wasn’t really bad. Although I stufftered, I still did pretty well. After teaching the class, I went back to the staff room to rest. My head was on my desk when the school principal (the school owner) came in. She knocked on my desk and when I looked at her. She told me to take a class in another subject (agricultural science) because the teacher that was supposed to teach them wasn’t around.
I was surprised, but I couldn’t say anything. She handed me the lesson notes, I read skimmed through for a few minutes, and after I was done, I nodded my head in affirmation. Teaching the students wasn’t the problem. I mean, teaching a bunch of primary school peeps agric science wasn’t a big deal, but that was not what we agreed on.
The next day, she repeated the same thing. She came to me again and asked if I could take agric again. Of course, I couldn’t say anything again. I did as she asked. Before I knew it I was teaching 3 subjects.
As if that was not even enough, when the end of the month came. I was really excited that I’d be getting my first salary. MY FIRST SALARY. It was such a big deal for me. But to my greatest surprise, she said something very disgusting. She said I should calm down because some students haven’t paid their school fees.
She said the same thing the second month. I didn’t wanna leave before I’ve stressed so much, plus I’ve also spent my money. Not only did I teach 3 subjects instead of one, she was also very rude and sassy. She talked to employees like slaves.
She did this the third month and I couldn’t bear it any longer. I submitted my resignation letter. I shouldn’t have even done that, I should’ve just left like that (maybe with a few chalks). But I think I did the right thing by submitting my resignation letter.
In conclusion
Quitting does not mean you give up. Sometimes you have to quit, for good reasons of course. You have to quit to come back stronger. If you had waited the fourth month, there’s a high possibility that the woman (the school principal) wouldn’t have paid. It is not okay to take people for granted. You are not a slave, you should know your self worth.
