Hello everyone in the hive blockchain. I hope you're all doing well and enjoying the weather wherever you are. Welcome to my blog.
Practice makes perfection. You don't just wake up one day and become perfect at something. It requires lots of ingredients. To become good at something, you have to put in lots of practice. It is just like cooking. When you want to prepare a meal, you don't just pour everything at once, you have to mix ingredients and do the necessary things. To become perfect at something, you have to put in important ingredients like consistency and hard work.
I'm sure most of you, especially football fans, are familiar with this phrase “Talent without hard work is useless”. The famous footballers we see today didn't just wake up one day and started playing football in big stadiums. They started as amateurs. Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema and some other good footballers were once amateurs. But they sacrificed their time and energy, they worked really hard and today, they are one of the best in the world.
Consistency is a very strong and important key. Sadly, not everyone knows the importance of this key. You can't be perfect all of a sudden, you have to try first. Start small, put in more effort and continue doing it. Repeat the same step every day and you'll become perfect at it.
Talent without hard work is useless. If you're talented in a particular area, you'll stay at the amateur level if you don't work hard, and at the end of the day, you'll lose it totally.
My writing journey is a very good example of the importance of consistency. I read @nkemakonam89 post and she also has the same experience. So many people on this blockchain started their writing journey here. They weren't good from the start, but with time, they got better at it.
I started my writing journey at a very early age. I wrote my first book when I was 10 years old. I was an amateur then and I probably made lots of mistakes. People claim writing is a talent and if you don't have that talent you can't get better at it. Well, I don't agree with that. Everyone has at least one hidden talent, it is just up to us to go on a journey of self-discovery. Study yourself. Try new things, make mistakes, try everything. And discover that thing that you're good at. I believe if you commit yourself to something, with time you'll get better at it. The same applies to writing. The big writers that we hear of today, spent so much time, they burnt late night candles before they became the gurus they are.
When I started my writing journey, I made lots of mistakes. I found it very hard to even think of a complete sentence. However there are times when inspiration flows and writes so much until my hands start hurting. But most of the time, I'd spend hours writing and end up with about 400 words.
A few years back when I started my blogging journey on a Nigerian platform that pay writers, I was always disturbing my sister, asking them what to write and how to go about it. Even when I joined hive, I still needed my sister’s help. But as time went on, I got better at it. It is very surprising how I transformed from the little boy that depended on his sisters, to a person that can now write more than 500 words in minutes.
I'll always say this; consistency is one of the most important keys to a successful life. Thanks to the different communities on hive block chain, users can explore and find different topics to write on. So many people came here without writing experience. I've even read a post from a notable river who said he once hated writing, but as time went on, he started writing everyday and today he is a very good writer. You don't have to start big. Take it step by step and in no time you'll get better at it.
AM I STILL AN AMATEUR AT ANYTHING ELSE?
Of course, I'm still an amateur at lots of things. Thanks to the hive learners community, I started my Canva journey about 2 months ago. I'm still an amateur, but I know with time ill get better at it. Sadly, school stress- dealing with electricity, bad internet, lectures, assignments and all, is not not giving me enough time. I hope to get back to it soon.
In conclusion
As I said earlier, consistency is a very important key. Writing is not the only thing I got better at. I’m also a chess player, I can also skate well, thanks to the spirit of consistency in me.
Thanks for reading.
