Today I want to talk about a topic that is perhaps closer to happening than we imagine. Imagine a world where money is not printed only by central banks, a place where governments have no influence over its value, where every transaction is transparent, secure and decentralized, in a world where only cryptocurrencies existed.
This vision may seem like a utopia to some and perhaps even a nightmare to others, but what could really happen if cryptocurrencies were the only form of money?
Is this a positive thing? One of the main arguments in favor of a world based exclusively on cryptocurrencies is decentralization, since today banks and governments control the issuance of money, which can inflate or devalue according to political and economic needs. This basically means that your purchasing power can be lost without you having any control over it. However, using cryptocurrencies, this scenario changes drastically, since most cryptocurrencies operate based on a fixed supply or controlled by immutable and auditable algorithms. This prevents uncontrolled inflation, since it is possible to analyze each one on a case-by-case basis and gives people control and transparency over their assets. In theory, this can create a fairer environment, where wealth is not manipulated by the decisions of a few powerful institutions, since the decision is shared and decentralized.
But since not everything is perfect, the lack of regulation also brings a series of challenges, because without a central bank to act in times of crisis, how would we avoid deep economic recessions, such as COVID19, which brought a challenge that was not expected and until then was something unpredictable.
Today, when there is a crisis, governments are able to inject liquidity into the economy and thus avoid a complete collapse, but in a world without paper money and central banks, a global crisis could simply perpetuate itself without efficient mechanisms to combat it and decimate an economy.
Another point that we must also analyze is that governments use their ability to issue money to finance essential services such as health, education and infrastructure. If we think that we would not have taxes on decentralized transactions or the ability to print money for emergencies, how would these services be maintained? They could simply end from one moment to the next, but perhaps the answer to this question could be a blockchain-based taxation system, but this is still a concept, something that governments think about in the future but that is not possible at the moment.
In addition, we have another problem: with a completely digital world, this brings increasing concerns about security. Although blockchain technology is safe against fraud and manipulation, hacker attacks are still a problem. We see a current scenario infested with “extensions” of “airdrop” links that may have vulnerable systems or that may compromise the security of your digital wallet. This is a big problem because there is no bank to help you recover the funds. Your money may simply disappear without a trace. Of course, there are good extensions and airdrops, but you can never be too careful.
There is also the issue of privacy. Today, cryptocurrencies can offer anonymity, which is good for protecting individual freedom, but on the other hand, they can also facilitate illicit activities, such as money laundering and financing crimes.
The difficulty in infrastructure is also a major barrier, because a financial system based exclusively on cryptocurrencies would require internet and electricity to be working all the time, without failures. As we know, there are several places where the infrastructure is still precarious. This could mean financial exclusion for millions of people.
I believe that the future will not be a system based 100% on cryptocurrency, but rather a hybrid model where cryptocurrencies will coexist with traditional currencies, thus offering more options and financial freedom to everyone. We are participating in the path to this financial revolution. Of course, this is still being built and it is up to us to decide how we will shape this new digital world.

Hoje quero comentar sobre um tema que talvez esteja mais próximo de acontecer do que imaginamos, pense em um mundo onde o dinheiro não é impresso apenas por bancos centrais, um lugar onde governos não têm influência sobre o seu valor, onde cada transação é transparente, segura e descentralizada, em um mundo onde apenas as criptomoedas existissem.
Essa visão pode parecer uma utopia para alguns e talvez até um pesadelo para outros, mas o que realmente poderia acontecer se as criptomoedas fossem a única forma de dinheiro?
Será que isso é positivo? um dos principais argumentos a favor de um mundo baseado exclusivamente em criptomoedas é a descentralização, pois hoje os bancos e governos controlam a emissão de dinheiro, podendo inflacionar ou desvalorizar conforme as necessidades políticas e econômicas, basicamente isso significa que seu poder de compra pode ser perdido sem que você tenha qualquer controle sobre isso, já utilizando com as criptomoedas, esse cenário muda drasticamente, pois a maioria das criptos opera com base em um suprimento fixo ou controlado por algoritmos imutáveis e auditáveis, desta forma isso impede a inflação descontrolada, pois é possível analisar quadro a quadro e dá a pessoa um controle e transparência sobre seus ativos, na teoria isso pode criar um ambiente mais justo, onde a riqueza não é manipulada por decisões de poucas instituições poderosas, pois a decisão é compartilhada e descentralizada.
Mas como nem tudo é perfeito, a ausência de regulação também traz uma série de desafios, pois sem um banco central para agir em tempos de crise, como evitaríamos recessões econômicas profundas, como por exemplo a COVID19 que trouxe um desafio que não era esperado e até então foi algo imprevisível.
Hoje, quando existe uma crise, os governos conseguem injetar liquidez na economia e com isso evitar um colapso completo, mas em um mundo sem dinheiro de papel e sem bancos centrais, uma crise global poderia simplesmente se perpetuar sem mecanismos eficientes para combatê-la e dizimar uma economia.
Também um outro ponto que devemos analisar é que os governos utilizam sua capacidade de emitir dinheiro para financiar serviços essenciais como por exemplo saúde, educação e infraestrutura, se pensar que não teríamos impostos sobre as transações descentralizadas ou a capacidade de imprimir dinheiro para emergências, como esses serviços seriam mantidos? simplesmente poderiam acabar de uma hora para a outra, mas talvez a resposta para essa pergunta poderia ser um sistema de tributação baseado em blockchain, mas isso ainda é um conceito, coisa que os governos pensam no futuro mas que no momento não é possível realizar.
Além disso temos outro problema, com um mundo totalmente digital, isso traz cada vez mais preocupações com segurança, embora a tecnologia blockchain seja segura contra fraudes e manipulações, os ataques hackers ainda são um problema, vemos um cenário atual infestado de “extensões” de links de “airdrops” que podem ter sistema vulneráveis ou que possam comprometer a segurança da sua carteira digital e isso é um grande problema pois não há banco para ajudá-lo a recuperar os fundos, seu dinheiro pode simplesmente desaparecer sem rastros, claro que tem extensões e airdrops bons, mas todo cuidado é pouco.
Também existe a questão da privacidade, hoje as criptomoedas pois elas podem oferecer anonimato, o que é bom para proteger a liberdade individual, mas também em contra partida pode facilitar atividades ilícitas, como lavagem de dinheiro e financiamento de crimes.
A dificuldade na infraestrutura também é uma grande barreira, pois um sistema financeiro baseado exclusivamente em criptomoedas exigiria internet e energia elétrica funcionando o tempo todo, sem falhas e como sabemos temos vários lugares onde a infraestrutura ainda é precária, isso poderia significar exclusão financeira para milhões de pessoas.
Penso que o futuro não seja um sistema 100% baseado em criptomoeda, mas sim em um modo híbrido onde criptos vão coexistir com moedas tradicionais e assim oferecendo mais opções e liberdade financeira para todos, estamos participando do caminho para essa revolução financeira, claro isso ainda está sendo construído e cabe a nós decidir como vamos moldar esse novo mundo digital.
