So this year came with a lot for me, I have talked about the things I have done, mistakes I've made, lessons I have learned, and achievements made this year. But as life would have it, every beautiful thing must end somehow, and someday. For me this isn't really the end, it's just the end of 2023. And when I talk about the end, I'm talking about my last act for the year which I will be doing. It's the very last rehearsal in a couple of hours. My theater group wants to make our last act for the year a memorable one, and for this, we have taken the work of putting in our very best in its preparation.
Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus, and we decided to do a stage play in front of at least 5, 000 who should be in attendance. The whole preparation is intense and so is the act itself. A month ago it took about five of us (scriptwriters) to write and finish a script for a 20-minute play that would talk about the birth of Jesus from a perspective that isn't familiar with a lot of Christians. To give a hint in this post, we are telling the story of Jesus from the perspective of Simon the high priest who according to the Bible waited his entire life to see the Messiah as God has promised him that he would not see death until the Messiah is born.
I brought up the idea when we were talking about what we wanted to do to make Christmas a memorable one for the team, and someone asked, what story could come from such an eventโฆ It took a lot of digging and research to find out the true story of that event and we later discovered that many of the things we grew up knowing about the birth of Jesus weren't true. Now I wouldn't want to go into that now else I will be revealing the act before I get a chance to play a joint lead role as Joseph the father of Jesus. But that's not all, one thing about my team is that it is filled with a lot of comic actors, so we thought of great comic relief for the story, and decided we would tell it using a Yoruba traditional theme.
So probably on Sunday or Monday, you wouldn't be surprised to see me posting pictures in Yoruba attires and saying I was acting the story of Jesus ๐. In the next two hours, we will be having a marathon of hours of rehearsals throughout the night until tomorrow morning to perfect and execute our act excellently. It's not easy for me but It's what I love, and I would do it over and over again. I came back from work about an hour ago, and now I'm preparing for a marathon all-night rehearsal ๐. God just help me on Monday because I would have to resume work. Anyway, it's the last for the year, and I think it deserves every bit of sacrifice.
