Greetings everyone! 🤲
For the past two years, I've not really been in the midst of people except my church family, where we are submissive to the protocols and leadership.
So when I saw this topic, the only thing that came to mind was church, and yeah, my mind quickly went back to the day I deliberately decided to go hard with one of the rules of the group.
In the group (ushering group), no matter what, guys don't appear in church without ties. The only day we are allowed to be free is the day we are putting on Native attire. It's a law we don't joke with; whenever someone trespasses, he or she will get queried.
There was a particular Sunday that I just decided to be free and be like others who have been breaking the rules. After all, being too innocent is not a ticket to heaven.
That day, I wore my brown trousers and a button-down white shirt, tucked in and buttoned up to my neck. I didn't use tie, i just wanted to be free. I was ready for any query that day, and just as I expected, I was well bombarded by leadership when they saw me, but at the end, justice was tendered with Mercy.
That year, I was working in an eatery as the cashier, and the CEO comes around occasionally and whenever he comes during the weekends; he fellowships with us in the church.
That Sunday, when I dressed without a tie to church, he was around, and he saw me. When he came to the office that day after church closure, he made mockery of me, asking why I didn't wear a tie to church, or was it because I don't have a tie?
I laughed and explained to him that I have a lot of ties, both long and bow ties.
He refused to concur, and I just laughed and let the old man keep querying me.
He traveled back to his base that week, and the following two weeks, he came and bought a pink packet shirt, a navy blue plain trouser and a bow tie.
What! I couldn't believe my eyes.
Actually, he gave it to our manager to give to me. When I received it, I had to go to his house to thank him. When I met him, he still insisted that I shouldn't go to church without a tie as an usher, because he was an usher like me before.
Well, I nodded in affirmation, thanked him so much, and left.
That has been the strangest gift to me, considering how it came.
I know it's not good, but ever since that day, I began to nurture the feeling of THERE'S PROFITS IN BREAKING RULES. Although I haven't defaulted since then, but yeah, there's profit in not keeping rules. Lol😄
Please note that this is not financial advice.
