I was at home town that particular year working as an account clerk in my home church, and I was serving a well understanding and easy going boss(Pastor). He's a youth pastor and has a beautiful matching wife, the two of them gave me access to everything in the house because of how humble I was(I'm still humble 🤗).
That year during Christmas, the wife travelled to her village to be with her family for a little period before returning back to her husband. So my boss was left alone to fend for himself and he's the type that doesn't support ladies or anybody coming around to cook for him, so he was getting food from an eatery.
That period, we had our End of Year Thanksgiving and a lot of food stuffs like yams, plantain, eggs, fowl, etc were brought as offerings, and as the custom of the church is; the pastor is in charge and he decides on whom to give or how to share to people if he wants.
He shared out 80% of the foodstuffs to the church members while we moved the remaining ones to the house. Among the 20%, plantains in their bunches were the major.
Some days after the Thanksgiving day, the plantains got riped and they were calling for some fries but I'm not the type that goes around questing for food in another person's house, so I stayed put...that's how my life is
Fortunately, one of the days of the week after doing some lazy work in church with some other close brethren, we went to pastor's house and he gave us a "go ahead" to feast on the ripe plantain.
Omo! Segun and Silas removed their shirts and turned to chefs Instantly, while I and other brother, Churchill was in the sitting room pressing phone as we wait for the chefs in the kitchen to deliver what they've been arranging in the kitchen.
Within a short while, the first set of friend plantain was served and we began to feast like we've never tasted a friend plantain before.
Wait! Just hold on!
That's to tell you the extent that I love ripe plantain.
If people say the reason I'm fair and lazy is because of ripe plantain, I'll concur 😁
Mehn! We ate and finished two bunches of plantain that day, although the three of my friends got tired along the line but I never did, I ate till the last pieces.
I know the experience sounds funny and not to be considered as something worth remembering, But to me, it's one Christmas I don't forget in a hurry; the Christmas I ate uncountable slices of plantain and never got tired. The interestingg thing is that, the plantain wasn't bought by me or by anyone among us, it was a gift from God. Lol😂
And also, that's the first and only boss(Pastor) that I served and was so free like that.
