So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the third topic for this week which is “AT LEAST ONCE”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “RETIREMENT HOME OR WITH FAMILY?”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us about their preferred methods of taking care of their aged parents. It was a choice between placing them in nursing homes or taking care of them at home.
We got to see that many people favored the idea of taking their family home instead of sending them off to retirement homes. While many don’t see anything wrong with it, they just feel that taking care of one’s parents is something that should be done by the family and not religated to total strangers.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w144e2 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. This author told us that it was an honor for an individual to be able to take care of their parents in their old age, after all, it was something not everyone could accomplish. Having elders in the house is always important because they would always be around to dish out wisdom from their wealth of life experience. Choosing to take care of one’s family will always be the best choice.

For this author, there are scenarios where she would happily take care of aged parents, and then there are those where she just might have to leave it to the professionals. In the retirement homes. However, there is no straight answer to this. In the end, what will be done is what is best in each scenario.

For this author, the elderly should only be cared for by their family members. Putting our aged parents in nursing homes has to be the highest form of ingratitude and it’s something that he would never be associated with. No matter how difficult it may be, he would definitely take care of them right at home with him.
