Hello everyone, how are you doing today? Hope you are having a great time. This is going to be Week 82, Edition 02 of our Weekly Featured Content.
So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to come to an end. We are currently on our second topic for this week which is “A BROKEN PROMISE”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last one which was “FREEDOM OF SPEECH OR RIGHT TO PRIVACY”. This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us their preference if they had to pick between having freedom of speech or the right to privacy. We got valid reasons for why each one would be very important and the reasons for the choice we made.
We got to see how bad things had to get to for people to have to choose between two fundamental rights. It’s something we all hope we never get to experience because it’ll be terrible for us all indeed. It was an enlightening topic.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w82e1 tags. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. This author told us that she would very much prefer to keep her right to privacy. Privacy would keep unnecessary elements away from her life and help her focus on things she could do to be better. After all, it’s only those we let into our private space that can actually betray us. What an eye-opener!
THE WORLD WITH FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS SOMETHING DIFFICULT TO GIVE UP ABOUT by @gwajnberg
For this author, he talked about how privacy was already being invaded by governments and corporations. We know all this and sadly there’s not much we can do about it. With freedom of speech, one can easily express themselves without fear of persecution. But then, this might not be possible seeing how we live in a world that keeps trying to oppress the powerless.
A DIFFICULT QUESTION ABOUT RIGHTS @momogrow
This author told us how the benefits of freedom of speech and how governments have been able to find a way around it. Losing one or the other would be a terrible thing because they go hand in hand and work best when the citizen enjoys both of them! Having to pick one would be hard, indeed..
