Cheers to 100 weeks of the Hive Learners featured edition contests! I'm so proud to be part of this amazing journey and you can't even begin to imagine how useful these contests are to me. As of last year when I was still a student, I mostly published articles in the Hive learners community and they were all entries to different prompts in the community. It was not surprising when I checked the community I made the most posting in 2023 and saw Hive Learners with over 80% of my posts published here. Now you see why I said I'm proud to be a part of this major milestone.
These contents make it easier for me to be consistent on hive. We all know that as writers, one of our major challenges is writer's block but I never experienced such when I have these featured contents by my side. Even at that, there were still certain topics that were a pain for me to write about and I even struggled to get to the required word limit. I mean, let's face it, nobody can be knowledgeable in all topics. Some topics might be hard for me but easy for you, and vice versa. So, on that note, let's start with the blog post that really connected with me emotionally
Promises built on ignorance
This topic brought back wonderful memories of a girl which I would say is my first love. I truly enjoyed writing about the experiences I had with her back then and at certain points while writing, I just stopped and stared blankly into space as I relived some of those events once again. I remembered the silly things I did back then, as well as the promises which I never kept. Mistakes were made which weren't even a big deal but I still allowed them to cause a rift between me and her. That experience affected the way I look at relationships and I realized the importance of communication, commitment and making compromises when needed. Now, let's talk about the toughest topic
Faces to adorn the currency
Bruh! This topic was hell! 😂 It wasn't the sort of thing people talk about every day, I mean, I have never heard people say things like “This man doesn't deserve to be on the currency” or “This man should be on one of the currencies.” As many of you know, writing about your personal experiences is the easiest type of writing. You're basically writing about the things you saw or heard, your thoughts flow smoothly and you don't have to wrack your brain thinking about the angle to take.
But this topic was the opposite of that for me. I not only had to think of people to adorn the currency, but I also had to give reasons behind why they deserved it (or else I might have ended up with an article of just 100 words). Since I never had personal relationships with the people I picked, there was only one route I could take; research. I had to research facts about the 3 people I picked and I can't just copy and paste; I read, understood what I read and then formed an article based on that. It felt like studying for an exam and writing well to pass it😂 now, for the easiest one.
I broke the rules and I liked it
As I stated earlier, writing about your personal experiences is very easy and that was what this post was all about. In that post, I talked about an experience I had when I travelled to Lagos for my industrial training back in 2022. I went with my coursemates and we all stayed in one building which was a very wonderful experience. So, writing about that was very easy and I was laughing at some of the jokes I cracked in the post (still funny even while reading them now 😂). I also talked about the silly rule that was introduced in my faculty and how I repeatedly broke it. That post was very fun and I enjoyed writing it.
So there you have it, my emotionally connected, easiest and toughest post from the last 100 weeks of Hive Learners featured edition contests. Honourable mention for the toughest topic is the topic about politics we did last week, I know I'm not the only one who didn't like that topic 😂 There are even topics I skipped totally and didn't write on because I just couldn't think of what to write, and probably also because I was too lazy to do so (most likely). But one thing I always do when faced with a tough topic is to read the entries of others, I definitely get inspired by them. So, which group should I even put this current topic? 🤔 toughest or easiest? It's actually a mix between emotionally connected and easiest!
