I am not someone who usually sets New Year's resolutions or goals because of the likelihood of abandoning them within a few months into the year. But luckily for me, I came across a post on TikTok last December that talked about breaking a year into quarters and treating those quarters as individual years. There is an entire book written about this system called The 12 Weeks Year (12 weeks in a year sounds crazy, right?)
There are 4 quarters in a year: January, February, and March make up the first quarter. The idea is to consider this quarter as a whole year and set goals for that "year". I did all of this in the last week of December. I thought about what I wanted to achieve in 2024 and set goals in all aspects of my life, including hive. I broke down those goals into quarterly, monthly, and weekly goals.
In addition to setting goals, I also came up with strategies (or plans) to help me achieve my goals. As the author of the book I'm currently reading (The 12 Week Year by Brian P. Moran) says, "A goal without a plan is a pipe dream." I can't just set goals without coming up with plans to achieve them. Using the Notion app, I wrote down my goals and the strategies to achieve them.
I also came up with habit and revenue trackers to help me keep track of my daily habits and earnings. My Notion app right now has basically become like a website with different pages all linked together, all aimed towards achieving my goals. The good thing about my strategies is that most of them can stand alone as individual goals. Let's go through my goals, shall we?
2000 Hive power
This is my main goal for Hive this year. Every other goal I initially thought of can easily be achieved once this one has been met. As I mentioned earlier, I broke down this goal into quarterly (500 HP), monthly (170 HP), and weekly goals (42 HP), but I am more concerned with the monthly goal, which is the one I wrote down.
The strategies for achieving this goal are the ones in the picture I shared earlier. The first one is mainly focused on engagement. I plan on engaging every day on Hive, as I was not doing that last year. Now that I think about it, I think I should probably make that strategy measurable since it's also a goal on its own. So, maybe at least 20 comments per day? Yeah, I think that's what I will modify it to.
Another important strategy is to publish articles every day. Last year, I mostly published articles three times a week, and they were mostly Hive Learners Weekly featured content entries. So, this year, I have branched out to other communities as well, just so I can have an easier time publishing different varieties of articles every day. I even post twice a day on some days (like Monday and today), and I am thinking of making that a habit as well.
The other strategies are also well thought out and geared towards achieving my goal. I have already chosen 3 communities where I will be a regular (and of course, Hive Learners is one of them 😉 no need to change it). I figured it's best to focus on 3 or 4 communities; it will be easier to stay focused and establish a strong presence in those communities.
I am also putting in more effort to be active in the Discord channels of the three communities I picked, and also to actively participate in contests and initiatives, which I didn't do much of last year. It's not going to be easy, considering I also have other goals outside of Hive (one of them is programming), but I usually make daily schedules and to-do lists just to strike a balance.
It looks like I have everything figured out, but not really. I am still learning and figuring out what works, so there will be some changes to my strategies as time goes on. I will do a full review at the end of the first quarter (March) to measure my progress and make changes where needed. 2024 will be a very good year for me, and it will be a good year for you too if you put in the necessary effort towards achieving your goals.
