All of us want one thing or another and most of the time, one (or some) of those things are very expensive and can't be afforded for now. So, we are either saving up some money to get it in the future or making plans that will help us get those things (or even imagining using that thing๐ ). It can be frustrating not to be able to buy whatever we want immediately but even the richest man in the world still have things he wants but can't get immediately (it doesn't have to be monetary!)
There are a lot of things I want right now but can't get but the thing is that some of those things aren't necessarily expensive to the extent that I can't afford them right now, they just aren't my priority right now and I rather channel the limited money I have into my topmost priority. One of those things is an ear pod, specifically oraimo freepods 4 which costs around 21,000 naira (approximately $30, using an exchange rate of N700/$) right now).
I can easily take out that money and buy the ear pod but the majority of my money is already allocated to my top priority: my final year project in the university. There are a couple of other things as well in my bucket lists that I will consider expensive right now because I don't have "free money" to purchase them but the number one on that list (which also exceeds my current account balance ๐) is...
Dell Inspiron 5406 2in1 laptop
Quick question; For those of you that have a laptop, how far back can you bend your laptop's screen? Mine can only go back 180 degrees and then the laptop becomes straight with the screen at the top and the keyboard region at the bottom. But some laptops can get their screen to go full 360 degrees (yeap, all the way back) just like the one in the picture below.
A female friend brought that laptop to school to help her install some software (like Microsoft Word and others). The laptop has a touchscreen and I wasn't totally impressed at that point because I have seen other touchscreen laptops but then I decided to see how far I can bend the screen and well, I got that result in the picture above and one fascinating I also realized is that by bending the screen that way, the laptop becomes a tablet!
The keyboard stops working after bending the screen to the back and then the laptop enters tablet mode and you have to start using the touchscreen. It works just like a regular tablet and it when uses a sim card! I asked her the cost of the laptop and she said it was around N450,000 ($642). "Wow! That's expensive", I said to myself but I absolutely love the laptop.
Then one of my friends sent me an Instagram link of the one he is planning to buy and after checking the specs of that one, I decided that one is far better but also more expensive (N585k, approximately $835). The one on the Instagram link my friend sent is that dell inspiron 5406 laptop and it's beautiful! It's just like the one my female friend brought to school (which is HP) but it has better specs.
First, this one has 32GB of Ram (crazy, right?), an Intel Core i7 with 8 CPUs and a base speed of 2.8GHz, and a maximum of 5GHz! It also has 512GB SSD (the storage), keyboard light, windows 11 pro, etc. To an average user, these things might be too technical or not so important but those of us in the tech world knows that this laptop is truly a beast! And it looks so sleek and beautiful.
When I saw it for the first time, I immediately started thinking about saving maybe around N2000 daily, and in less than a year, I will be able to buy that laptop and I would have been able to start saving immediately but like I said earlier, my top most priority right now is my final year project in the university and that thing will cost me close to N200k! And I also need to feed myself, pay bills and take care of some other everyday expenses.
So, for now, I won't be able to start saving for that laptop but luckily for me, I will be done with this stressful university latest in September and I can fully focus on saving for that laptop. I remember buying my current laptop last year after saving for about 3 months and the laptop is a very old HP ProBook that was released in 2012 (or even lower than that). It's just 4gb RAM and has an Intel core i5 with just 2 CPUs and a base speed of 2.6 GHz.
It serves me well on a lot of things I do daily but becomes quite laggy when I'm doing something heavy with it. If I want to take programming seriously and become a successful web developer in the future, I definitely need an upgrade and that dell inspiron laptop is the upgrade I want for now. It's not the best laptop in the world but it can perfectly do what I want in a laptop, what more can I ask for?
