Today I’m going to talk to you about recycling practices, and it’s really interesting how we can make the most of things that have already been used, because this, among other things, brings an economic benefit: we save a good amount of money by giving a second life to items or things we’ve already used.

One of the interesting things about this is, for example, recycling paper we’ve already used.

We all have some notebook or notepad where we’ve drawn or written something.

Even though cell phones are more commonly used nowadays, there are still people who draw or buy newspapers, and these materials can be used in different ways.

In the case of notebooks, the paper can be recycled: you gather all the paper, right, and this is something I learned many years ago in school when I was a child.

We used to make our own recycled paper by wetting all the sheets, right, and mixing them with water to create a paper pulp from all the pages of our notebook, from the drawings we’d made.

We’d filter those sheets through a mesh screen, like the ones used for sifting cement or sand.

Well, a screen that was sold back then in stationery stores, and there we’d place this paper pulp. Of course, we’d let it dry for a day, and the next day we’d have a little sheet of recycled paper.

All those containers help me store water, so I always have them there.

The last time I recycled these items was just yesterday, because I have these bottles where I store water.

Here in Venezuela, we have a system that is being implemented in each community, depending on the needs of each community, but generally there are special containers where different items to be recycled are placed, whether plastics, glass, or other non-recyclable items, and there they’re categorized.

Sometimes, I also use vehicle tires to plant flowers, to grow different types of petunias and aloe vera. So, in the lower part of the building, we use these tires as planters.

This way, we help the environment and recycle these items.

I think it’s very important and interesting for people around the world to recycle items, especially because the global population keeps growing, we’re polluting the planet more, and we have a scarcity of resources.

So, on one hand, there’s a great need for us to recycle things to save money, and also to help with the cleanliness and sanitation of the planet, which it so desperately needs.
