Many assumption have been made over individuals, over things or places without a concrete or accurate information about the subject matter. Assumption is something that always occur. Stereotype is just a generalization or a particular belief or acceptance of something which might not really be accurate. I'm from Africa and the part of Africa I come from we are known as The Giant of Africa, the lot of things about Nigerians that are unique to us or join in Nigeria we have different ethnic groups and tribes. It is not there that the igbos are lover of money, the Hausa's are lover of cow, Yoruba's are lover of power and many other tribes with what they are known to be. However, they are just absorption that people think they are true about them. The igbos are successful in business and when it comes to business, Business involves money, so that made the assumption to stick to that igbos are lover of money, because they love doing business.
Why growing up as a kid many people has this stereotypes that I always applied TIRO funny enough it happened sometime ago in CITY OF NEOXIAN, I share a picture, can someone was surprised to see the black lining in my eyelid and asks do mayor apply TIRO, hehe I wasn't shocked because it is the question I receive almost everyday in any new environment I go but I was not expecting that someone will pay attention to it even in a picture. People always ask if I apply something to my eyes because of the black color on the eyelids. That is just natural, when I tell people that, they will argue me some will be tempted to clean it with their hand to confirm if truly is natural or not and after attempting to clean with their own hands they will still find it difficult to believe that truly it is natural. But it is natural.
The part of Igbo I come from are known to be people who don't have heights, so whenever they see me they don't believe that I'm from such part of Igbo because of my height I mean I'm approximately 5.9 ft as of the last two months. People find it difficult to believe that mayor is from this part of Igbo. It is not something strange to me but then they might not believe that I'm from that particular tribe or part of Igbo that the heard they don't have height because of the stereotype. However, a stereotype believed in for that men don't cry, it was all funny when something tragedy happened at home I was looking at everywhere and the men was not crying then before us when I asked someone that they why was it that they will not crying the person told me that men don't cry, that's it to my brain that men does not cry. I always have that at the back of my mind that a real man does not cry. When I thought I was a man enough, there's something that happened then I cried, that was when I told myself guy you are still not man enough. Hehehe, not until I get to listen to Lucky dube song where he said "Big boys don't cry but sometimes they cry" after that day I understood what it's was all about when he said that men does not cry. We all have many different assumptions of some existence.
