I gave it a lot of thought, browsed through my things and checked my gallery, all to know the things I've bought that I've been happy about and otherwise. Buying new items is always a delight for me and if there is one thing I'm still fighting to get rid of is, buying things on an impulse.
Impulse buying is a habit that always seem to make me go over my budget but also a habit that helps me get some things I would usually find hard to leave the house to go get it for myself.
Why am I on about impulse buying? Before that, I'd love us to be clear on what I know about impulse buying.
Impulse buying is simply purchasing a product or an item with no hesitation or pre-shopping plans for it.
I am a victim of this act, I bought a lot of things I own now on an impulse. While there are the ones I regret making that hasty decision for, there are a lot I have been very happy I made a quick decision for. I mean, life isn't balanced and the same goes for everything in life including purchasing items.
You could be lucky to get really good and quality ones for cheap prices and be unlucky to get bad quality ones for expensive prices and other wise.
Because of this, I tend to be more grateful of the ones I got lucky with over the ones I didn't get any luck with. On that topic, I'd love to share two memorable purchases I've made on an impulse buy. A regretful buy and a very happy buy.
I saw that a lot of persons shared their bad buys before the good ones but I'm choosing to share my bad buy before the good buy as I feel it would help my post have a happy ending for you readers lol.
I am never lucky with heels/shoes - My bad buy on an impulse.
I have a thing for heels but it isn't because I know how to wear them very well. I just like how they make me more conscious and confident of my steps and so I never give up an opportunity to get a new one. It's sad to say I've never bought a heel or shoe that lasted as good as they cost.
There's this one heel shoe I bought sometime last year in preparation for a sister's marriage. I never wanted to get a new one and was thinking of using the one I had at home but one thing led to another and I was in a shoe shop with a friend.
I saw this fine looking thing calling my name and I found myself negotiating price. I bought the shoe for a little less than 10 dollars, it was a lot for an impulse buy but I didn't care.
Well, I still regret to say I only wore the shoe once and it became weird. Started pulling off, the heels of the shoe got bad. I wished I didn't buy it since I didn't plan for it but it has happened and I just had to bear through it.
A handbag, my pride of impulse buying - A good buy on an impulse.
I'm a total lover of bags for all the reasons they are made, they make things really easy when I have to step out of the house and need to be some items that doesn't need to be on my hand all day. Since I have a lot to keep with me when I set out, I tend to buy bags that would be more useful in that regard.
I don't get to buy a lot of things for myself as my mum does that even when I don't ask for it. But the one time I got to buy a bag for myself, it was on a day I had closed from my industrial training for that day. I was tired, and walking home when I saw this bag shop.
My friend succeeded in making us go check out nice bags and their prices with no plans of actually buying it - It's called window shopping lol. That was how we got in and my eyes caught this bag, I could stare away anymore until I got the price and had it in my hand as we went back home.
The bag cost me a little above 5 dollars and I've been using this bag for more than two years now. It's my favourite bag among all the ones I have, making me use it more often than the others. Usually, such items wear out when you use them too much but not this lucky item I got.
Like I said in a comment, we gain some and lose some even in purchasing items. We can only hope that we have more gains with little or no losses. Do share your experience with me in the comment section.
