To be honest, my first thought when I saw the topic about more holidays for workers, I was of the instant opinion that there should be more holidays. Of course, there are a few holidays given already but I think the one for workers is just one I know here in my country, some just get lucky to not work on some other holidays.
While it's fair to let workers rest as much as they work since we're all humans before we got the job, it is also fair to look at each worker's job before deciding or declaring an holiday for them.

This is just my thought as a worker for a period of time some years back, not the full time blogger that I am now whose holiday is like everyday lol. I love holidays as much as others do, it's the reason I am loving earning online which I can do at my own convenience and take breaks whenever I want to.
But some years back when I was working as a secretary for a law firm, I got to be in the shoes of workers who have to submit to their Bosses at work. It's a whole different thing entirely especially for people like me who didn't like the work place and it kinda plays a negative one on my mental health. I believe it is same for a lot of workers out there.
For this, workers should be given time to rest, breaks and if possible holidays to spend with their families once in a while. Some work place do take this into consideration but not in the way I'd want it as a worker. Different workers with what they want as regards to more holidays but I'm of the opinion that there's enough general workers holiday already.
What I'm totally against about workers holidays is when workers are made to take home more work to finish at home during their "no work" days. It's enough that workers are trying to bear with the few but enough holidays, why the extra work at home during weekends or off days?
I never had this experience but I've seen a lot of such happening, a tired worker will come back home but instead of resting to be energized for the coming work week, he is trying to get a pending work from office done. This deprives them of their sleep, the time they should have with family if living with family and time for themselves maybe for take outs or just have fun.
Workers are humans! They are in no way robots, robots could do more until it's batteries dies and then it gets charged up again. Humans may not be robots but rest is like a charge for them, what happens when they are not even able to charge up as much as they should?
Breaks or holidays would improve manpower and so the mental health of every worker should be put in consideration while trying to meet company goals. There are some jobs that is hard to request holidays for and I totally think they shouldn't get so much for themselves since they signed up for it.
One of them is the medical line of work, imagine a hospital giving too many holidays to workers, not a good result will come out of that I'd say. There should be breaks and total rest on weekends or off days for workers in any line by avoiding taking half done work home, but there is enough general holidays for workers... My thought.
