Well, I've been a smoker for about 17 years, a bad habit and a constant battle to quit. Since the day I started smoking, the price of cigarettes has risen steeply every year. And you think I quit smoking? No. So this certainly wasn't a measure that had an impact on my life, other than making me consume a worse and more expensive product. In all this time, I've never seen a project to encourage people to stop smoking. I've never seen any treatment to help quit smoking or medication to ease nicotine addiction being promoted by the government. But what if the government itself used this tax to promote projects to prevent and help smokers, or even prevention projects, especially focused on young people, who are the age group that most often starts this type of addiction? However, we need to analyze the consequences of this higher tax and use the money raised to promote projects that really make a positive difference to people's lives. Prevention is the best solution, as are projects that help people quit this addiction. Simply raising taxes will never be the right way to alleviate this problem.

Isso faria total sentido. A questão não é que aumentar o imposto sobre esses produtos seja algo ruim, é até compreensível. Porém, é necessário analisar as consequências dessa cobrança maior e utilizar o dinheiro arrecadado para promover projetos que realmente façam a diferença na vida das pessoas de forma positiva. A prevenção é a melhor solução, assim como projetos que ajudem as pessoas a deixarem esse vício. Apenas subir os impostos nunca será a maneira certa de amenizar esse problema.
