However, even if we sometimes choose the best decision, it can still turn out badly. Life has these things. You can't premeditate everything that's going to happen. We are limited in understanding what comes next, even when, inside us, it seems to have been the best choice. How do we know what the best decision is when faced with difficult choices? You can't be sure of anything. Life is too dynamic for absolute certainties, especially when it comes to important decisions. But that doesn't mean we should make random or thoughtless choices. The ideal is to make an analysis when faced with difficult decisions.
I usually try to imagine possible scenarios for my choices. Of course, this is just a basis for possible outcomes, because it's impossible to predict everything down to the smallest detail and details sometimes change everything. But that's what we have: to imagine the possible consequences of each choice. Often this may not have a direct impact, but it's still important, because if I think about the results, at least I have a basis for deciding. This applies especially to major decisions that can have a real impact on my life. The more I think about the possibilities that could happen and what the ways out would be, the better prepared I am to make a decision.
For example, a little over a year ago, I made the decision to change jobs. You see, I was good at what I did, I stood out in the company where I worked, I was a reference and close to my bosses. But although it was a good job and made me feel comfortable, it wasn't a place that would help me develop professionally. There was no room to grow there. So I had to make a difficult decision: change jobs and look for a place where the horizon was broader.
It wasn't easy. I spent a few days devoting my time to planning this change and reflecting on whether I was really making the right choice. Did I make the right decision? I can't say for sure. I just took a chance, and so far it's flowed. But the real answer will come in the future. Until then, it was a difficult decision. And what was the process you followed? First, I analyzed what could go wrong and, if it did, what I would do. Then I put all the positives and negatives of both companies on the scales, trying to understand which one offered more advantages.
Of course, this was just a basis. Every decision I make requires me to assess the risks, the chances of success and the consequences if something goes wrong, and whether I would then have the resources to reverse the situation. But to tell you the truth, every decision, however small, has some impact on our lives, and this is often beyond our control. For example, today you might decide to go out in the street wearing the shirt of a TV show, and someone might think it's cool and compliment you, and a friendship could be born. The decisions are ours, but the consequences are also up to chance.
In the end, all we can do is imagine the possible scenarios and hope it was a good decision. If it wasn't, bear with us and let it serve as a learning experience for the next ones. But let's be clear: even if your choices were the best possible, we have no way of predicting what comes next. We can only hope that they bring the consequences we imagine. As my mother used to say: “The future belongs to God, but we take care of the now.”
