I hate visiting hospitals/clinics for any reason, even if I'm ill, I prefer to be treated at home by my Aunt who is a nurse. There is this particular smell that all hospitals has that do give me headache if I visited or pass through any area that an hospital is situated, so I'm always reluctant to visit hospital for anything.
Recently my uncle's wife gave birth, I kept postponing my visit till she was discharged from the hospital. Very early the following day, I was the first person she saw in their house, till today they never knew my reason for not visiting her at the hospital. Although if I don't have choice, I will summon courage and go but I won't be comfortable during my stay.
I barely fall sick, most times my sickness doesn't go beyond Headache, Catarrh, Sore throat and Malaria in which by God's grace my Aunt who is a nurse knows my prescriptions. But last year October I had to visit hospital because of an illness. I happened to be sick at work, I was so weak and couldn't eat. So I had to go back home for proper treatment. When I got home, my Aunt administered first aid to calm my high temperature to see if there will be an improvement in my health.
The following day there was no improvement, it's as if I became weaker as the days pass by, so my Aunt told my parents that I have to go for a medical test to be sure of what's happening, immediately my sister volunteered to drive me to the hospital. But I refused, I told her that it's malaria that's doing me imagine o, me telling Nurse that I have malaria. All because I don't want to go to the hospital𤣠and that she should give me injections and drugs.
My Aunt refused, I was so pissed, I tried everything possible not to go for the test but I became weaker and can't hold a spoon let alone stand to bath myself. It was at that moment I realized it's time to go for the medical test so that I won't die of negligence.
My Aunt went with us, I don't know what she told the nurse on duty. All I know is that I was taken straight to the hospital lab to collect my blood sample. You won't believe, I was poked with something like a needle and I didn't feel it at all. It was as if all my nerves had died, the nurse faulted my Aunt (as a nurse) never to allow me have my way again any time I'm sick, then I knew that my condition was not ok.
We waited for the test result for about 10mins and it turned out that I'm having Typhoid fever (as in high concentrated fever). The look on my Elder sister's face was as if she should slap me, but she no fit do am cause I'm sick. I was speechless, and didn't know what to do.
My Aunt said her curiosity was right, that was why she doesn't want to administer malaria drugs to me. My Aunt didn't allow the hospital to admit me, so we left and drove to a near by pharmacy to buy things needed for my treatment. So she became my Nurse for few days by administring the right prescriptions for the treatment which was injections and drips.
As days goes by, I regained my strength little by little and felt better. The treatment lasted for some days till I recovered fully. I was happy I later do the right thing and also vow never to take my health with levity again.
Therefore, October 2022 about 9months ago was my most recent hospital visit for medical test.
Thanks for visiting.
