Both luck and hard work are important features that mustn't be missing in anyone's life because both are interwoven and very essential. Luck is something that happens to someone by chance which might lead that person to fortune while been hard working is to take ones work with seriousness, doing it well without been lazy. This means, hard work is the key to luck in whatever area or thing you are looking for.
I wholeheartedly dislike those people that believes in luck without hard work. For me, luck is the unmerited favor you receive when you work diligently. Through your seriousness with whatsoever you are doing, you can unexpectedly receive blessings from people around you without asking them, that's why we all needs to be hardworking so that the good works that we are doing would attract luck to us.
Before I gained admission into University, I worked in a private school and I also got involved in private lessons after school, so I noticed that a particular boy in my school always play outside the school compound once the school closes waiting for someone to pick him up.
I also noticed the person coming for him always comes late, so I told the boy to tell his parents that it will be better for him to join my evening class so that it will become an added advantage for him to learn something while waiting to be picked up.
After like two days, no response from the boy so I inquire from my fellow teacher about the boy, the teacher told me that the boy's Mom won't reply because the boy is a dullard and his daddy doesn't live with them. That all what the boy liked is to be involved in extracurricular activities that's all.
I personally like the boy because he's always neat and very sharp, so I wondered what would've gone wrong with him. I concluded within myself that I would help him in my little way. I made it compulsory for him to be attending my evening class to know his weakness, it was then I discovered that he knows how to read, but just needs someone to calm him down because he's always in a haste to do things. And he doesn't think on his failures, he isn't remorseful at all.
The first thing I did was to pull him out of all school's extracurricular activities and put him in quiz and debate club, he cried like something else that day, but I wasn't bothered. Even his mother didn't bother also, that was when I knew I must help him at all cost.
With God's help I was able to help him find himself but it wasn't easy, because along the line I intend to give up because all my efforts on him was like a wasted one, in which some staffs even asked me if there is something about the boy with me that I'm not telling them. I was adviced to leave him just like how his parents aren't paying attention to him.
On the long run, God crowned my efforts on him and he changed from his non chalant attitude to his books. After two terms (6months) of working vigorously with the boy in school, I just saw a woman in my office and she went on her knees crying, I was shocked because I didn't know her. I calmed her down and told her to sit down, it was when she started talking that I knew she was the boy's Mom.
She said she had lost hope on him but didn't know that miracle can still happen. She said she noticed the change of behavior to school works in him and when she finds out, she discovered I've been giving him free private classes for the past 6months.
She said she came to reward me for my hard work and at that spot this woman gave me Twenty thousand naira cash (#20k) and promised to add more before that month ends, I was shocked because I wasn't expecting it at all, it was like a dream to me, she even gave me food stuffs. Till today we are still friends even though I later left the school to pursue my career.
My Luck Story
During covid-19 lockdown, everyone was home due to the lock down. So once in a while, I do walk from home to a close by bridge in my area as a form of exercising my body and to enjoy the cool breeze from the river. One evening, I sat at the bridge enjoying the cool breeze, so there was two men working on some broken water pipe beside the bridge talking about seeing someone within their vicinity to help them sew nose masks.
I immediately interrupted them that I live area the area and I can sew any quantity for them once they show me the type of material they want. I was immediately given the sample and the man said I should go and sew 10 pieces first to see what I will made. I sew it perfectly and they liked it. So I was told to go and sew 200 pieces of nose masks, I thank my star because I was lucky to sit beside the bridge that day.
After my experience, I discover that hard work and luck are interwoven. Because if I don't know how to sew I won't be able to earn from those men during the lockdown. Even the Bible says "faith without work is nothing", so that means you can't be doing nothing and be expecting a miracle/luck it's not possible. You must first work so that miracle can come to you. So hard work pays!
