Been the second born of the family wasn't that challenging while growing up because before my parents will find fault in one or two things that my siblings and I have done wrong, my elder sister would have been blamed before it get to me. My childhood experience has been fun and as well filled with teaching responsibilities a teacher's kid, people that we fall into the same category would understand better.
My parents are strict, I think Mom is stricter than Dad, my Mom doesn't use cane to beat, she using her hand. If she hit you with her hand OMG! it will be as if you mistakenly sniff dried pepper, the effect is the same as sniffing pepper. So all of us do avoid her might hands.
But my Parents are the best, they provide for myself and my siblings virtually everything we needed but there are laid down rules and regulations for us to follow. And one of it is, you can't play outside the house, you must read and play inside the house.
During my childhood we lived in a 3 bedroom apartment but we only occupied just 2 bedrooms. The third room was our reading room, play ground, game and movie studio. We had fun watching children movies, play with different toys and play different kinds of games e.g Super Mario, Brick games, Mortal combat, Whot, Ludo, Puzzle and Football games (it was from this game I develop the interest of watching football till date). During weekends Dad do create time to watch us play games against ourselves and he do give the winner goodies, come see the way we will be serious on top biscuits and sweet, chaiiii childhood sweet oooo.
One of my funny childhood memory
My parents gave myself and elder sis the privileged to choose any department of our choice in Church, so we opted for the juvenile choir and there was an announcement also that new members are welcome.
The first time my Sis and I went for the rehearsal, we were beaten by a man who was one the instructors, why? Because we both aren't singing while other are singing.
Wowwww.. In my mind I was like is this how they beat you children here, I will never come back
Believe me you, I never go back and till date I haven't been involved in anything choir. Don't get me wrong I love and appreciate melodious songs and talented singers but you can't find me singing with a group unless I'm in Church congregation.
When one of our school teacher saw me crying cause I cried the most that day and I narrated what happened to her, she consoled me then she went to meet the man that we are new members but instead for this man to apologize could u believe he didn't, he just walked away. That act made me hate been a chorister till date, even though my parents persuaded me that it was a mistake I refused o, I told them the man will always beat me because I won't know any song that he will teach us, lolz
My sis went back and she is still a choir member till date but for me, I opted for another group. Then I went to join the Boys & Girls Brigade of Nigeria and I was a member till year 2007 before my Church change to her own indigenous voluntary organisation. As a member, I learnt a lot of things and meet various kids from other church denominations. Till date I'm very good at parade and I'm also a good snare drummer.
Childhood was fun, nothing to think or worry about. In my house you have all you wanted when you behave well, I enjoy every stage of my growth and development with lot of love and affections.
