Sometimes been knowledgeable isn't enough to navigate through life, one need to learn how to apply the knowledge rightly through learning from an experienced individual who can either be related or not related to you.
I'm a lady that doesn't have memories of both my paternal and maternal grandparents at all. They all kick the bucket when I was still a child, so I can't really say anything about their personalities only that I know their names and I've seen them in pictures.
But nevertheless, I grew in the midst of elderly people because when I was much younger, my Mom worked as a weekend volunteered teacher in my family church, so I was always with her whenever she's in church to teach her pupils, either to help out in directing the pupils or do another thing.
I was opportune to be very close to one elderly man called "Grandpa Smith", who lives directly opposite my Church. This man was a very intelligent being who doubles as a disciplinarian and also a jovial fellow. I took him as my grandpa while I was in growing up because I had none, I must say he really helped my life greatly. He applaud and also pick faults with affection and makes you see reasons why you are wrong or right with whatsoever you have done, he was a source of strength to me cause he is filled with wisdom.
This man was also a Bible scholar who use to be happy once myself and some of my peers are with him. He will pick up a Bible character and taught us all about that character, then he will correlate it with the presence situations of the world. Each time I'm with him then, I always learn one or two things, cause he do speak in a lay man's language that you will surely understand. He is such a unique being that the divine had blessed with wisdom, he is full of wise counsels.
He influenced me greatly with his timeless advise and I thank God for making me come across that unique being in his life time. He let me realize that it's the way I present myself to people around me that they will see me, he taught me how to live simple and also live a life worthy of emulations.
Another thing I also enjoyed Grandpa Smith for, is his first Sunday of the month treats...... ohhhh the goodies are heavenly. He will call one of his daughters close by to make snacks, buy biscuits, sweets and the likes for us all to celebrate been alive in sound health and peace of mind. Also during his birthday, we do have more than enough to eat for our merriment.
Then death came in late 2010. He passed on after a brief illness, I felt his death so much because I love him for been kind towards me. He served as both the maternal and paternal grandparents that I wasn't able to meet while growing. I missed him so much and l also bless the heavens for making our paths crossed.
