Hi Hivians, welcome to my blog.
My entry for W18E3 #Hivelearners featured contest which I tag The Experience: Enjoyable or Endurable?
There are two things you can earn from any job you are doing, it's either the job is enjoyable or endurable. In a workplace there are some people that are very lucky in which they enjoy their work with pleasance while some are unlucky, they work vigorously yet they are been given ill treatment.

My Experience
Immediately after my one year mandatory service (NYSC), I launched out to the labour market in search of job but none was forth coming, so I decided to apply to a near by private high school in my area to either teach mathematics or chemistry. I did the interview, passed, then I was employed to teach maths.

I was to teach Junior class 1 and 2, each class had 2 arms, so teaching both classes summed up to four arms with an average number of 23 per class, you can imagine the total. The school closes by 4pm, but the teachers will leave the school premises 15mins after the students departure. Little did I know that the employment will become a nightmare.
I am to take 24 periods in a week with a salary less than $45, I had no choice then to take the offer. But it was not easy at all, I had it very very rough. What irritated me the most, is the delay in the payment of salary (I think majority of private enterprise have this problem), imagine been paid on the 5th or 10th of the following month. oh my!😥 It was an enduring experience.
It got to a point, it was as if I'm having paralysis in my right hand due to daily marking of classwork and numerous take home assignments.
The same teachers will prepare lesson notes, take students for quiz and debates or for excursions and as well write report on the outing. Prepare exam questions with marking scheme, I was drained!
On a more serious note, how person go have peace of mind with that kind job? Everyday you are going home with one sickness or the other.
The story changed in 2021
But when I got a Government Teaching job last year, I have been enjoying my health, having all round rest and peace of mind. Even though I was posted to a rural area, it's still more preferable compare to my mischievous Private School Job. I teach only the senior classes chemistry, just 9 periods in a week and the school closes by 2pm.
Salaries are been paid collectively without stress. I'm now having adequate time to rest, learn new things and engage in side hustling. But I still believe been self employed is the best profession. To be your own boss and do things your way. This has been my experience so far.
Thanks for your time!
