In my place, there used to be people who lived on the beach. They used the beach as a toilet, and started defecating there, old and young along the beach when the morning sun began to rise.
A very common sight was people covering themselves with sarongs, which is a special cloth that is worn every day, and as a blanket when sleeping.
Honestly, it was actually quite disturbing. When I was little, I often found myself stepping on soft objects buried under the sand when I wanted to enjoy the afternoon sun.
Thankfully, over time people began to realize how important it was to change that. We can't imagine when we pass through water carrying an unpleasant smell that is quite familiar to us.
