Being a student is just like living life. You never know when something impromptu will come up. I remember in Junior High school we used to have this hot mental every morning where you will be asked random questions about what we had learnt so far in preparation towards our final exams. It was a very serious drill and if you make a mistake or get an answer wrong you will be punished. š„²
In senior high school all of that stopped. Most of our teachers didnāt care about such stuff so all they did was teach, give homework and set exams questions for us. Then, I thought my days of mental and impromptu tests were over but little did I know what was waiting for me in the university.
Being in the university for about 4 years has taught me that we need to be ready for anything at any time. As a university student I know that going for lectures all the time is not compulsory but I still choose to go for the sake of my attendance and a better understanding of what is being taught but mostly for the attendance.š
Sometimes some lecturers do not put in that much effort in teaching us well so you come to realize the class size for that particular course is reducing gradually. When this happens these particular lecturers also try to show us who the boss is by organising impromptu tests.š
Once I decided to go for one particular class late because the lecturer was mostly late. Little did I know that that day wasnāt my lucky day. A few steps away from my hostel and we get a call that thereās a test. What do we do now?
In our quest to write this test since we know it carries a lot of marks we started to run to campus. Guys, @yahuzah left me on the way since he could run faster.š On our way we met a lot of our classmates also trying to get there on time, I guess it was a day of exercise.
After running for about 10 minutes we finally get to class just to realize there are no seats for us to use. We then decide to stand and write because sitting wasnāt a priority now. I pick my book and tear some pages from it for those around me. While the other late comers look for the questions and the others work on the answer.
The only way to survive such situations is working as a group without the lecturer finding out. In such cases all phones are to be put away but we all know that thereās one individual who finds his way around it. We write down the questions, start answering what we can and then wait for our Messiah to save us. Within a twinkle of an eye, answers start circulating among us.š
Those stretching their necks are at work, those reading answers to others too are busy trying not to get caught. One way or the other, we make sure at least those around us have something to write. This test lasted for about 10 to 15 minutes. At this point no one really cared about the time because we were all trying to get our answers ready.
At the end of the test we gave our papers out to the lecturer and now begin to look for seats. On such occasions you come to understand the advantages of making friends with your coursemates. At the end of the day, a class the works together graduates together.š
We always learn our lessons after such tests and promise to go to class early and make sure to revise but our plan doesnāt always work when it comes to going to class early especially for 7:00am classes but we still try our best. As for revising, I donāt think Iād ever be caught off guard in my school life ever again cos I always have an idea of whatās being taught in my head.
In all, I just hope that we all graduate together as a class and come out with flying colours.
I hope you enjoyed reading this, thank you for your time.
