It’s funny how most of us have spent almost all our lives in school. Either in the classroom or somewhere on campus with our teachers and our mates.
What we were told from the beginning was to go to school and study hard so we become better people in future.
But, have we thought to ask ourselves if it’s only school going people that become better people in the society?
We all know the answer to this question. The simple reason why our parents took us to school to study is to expose us to the outside world and also, so we can be educated.
In our course of studying at various levels, we come across different kinds of people who have been tasked to be our teachers and also guide us to the right path in our academic life.
These individuals who have been assigned us as teachers all have different qualities. Some good , some bad but in all they try their best to instil the spirit of discipline in us as well as do their work diligently.
In my years of being a student I have met some of the best and also the worst teachers whom I liked and still like regardless.
Let’s talk about the bad before the good. Can’t have a sad ending to this story.
Who is my best teacher?
I actually like school a lot because I get to learn and do new stuff everyday. I’m a very curious person so I wouldn’t want to miss school for even a day.I have been taught by a lot of teachers but there’s one that stands out.
I had a teacher in Senior high school whom I liked very much. His personality and teaching skill were the best. He was our English language teacher.
In senior high school most of our teachers were either too strict or too careless. This teacher in particular was in between. He is strict when there’s the need and he is also cool when it’s needed.
He made my love for English language develop very much because his teaching was unique.
He interacted with his students very well and he made sure we all understood what was being taught.
His class wasn’t boring as compared to the others because there were a few jokes here and there during his lessons.
One thing that made me like him more was the fact that he took time outside of class hours to help his students. He made sure to correct all our mistakes both in and out of class. In addition to that he was really humble. Who wouldn’t want to be around a person like him? Everyone did.
I think I would grade him 9/10 because he is one of the best teachers I have ever met.
Who is my worst teacher?
I sort of feel bad for doing this but it’s the truth. I’ve had a lot of bad teachers but the worst teacher I have ever had was my Chemistry teacher back in Senior high school.
Man, this man made me really hate chemistry because everything about his classes was off balance. He was always late to class, he didn’t make enough time to teach us and in addition to all of this he was also using we the students for his business.
He would come to class and instead of teaching us chemistry as he has been assigned to do, he will use half of the time or talk about his soaps and bleach he brings along to class for us to buy. It was the same routine every time so most of my classmates sleep when it’s time for his lesson.
Funny thing is, he doesn’t do anything about the students sleeping in class. He comes to class, do his own thing and leaves when it’s time to change lessons.
I didn’t really see the beauty of chemistry until I got to university. Maybe if my chemistry teacher had been more open and taught us well i would have loved chemistry from the start.
If I am to grade him, it will be 5/10. He wasn’t a bad tecaher but his way of teaching wasn’t helping some students.
In all, I think some teachers need to change their way of teaching students because it doesn’t favor majority of them.
This is my entry to the second edition of this weeks contest. I hope you enjoyed reading. Thank you.
