In life, there is that time we would reflect on our lives and just wish we avoided one decision or attitude and become a better version of our personality.
Last year January after I resign from my former workplace, a good friend of mine introduced me to a real estate company where I can be one of the marketing agents online or offline with a 10% commission on any property I sell. I looked at it as a side hustle that I can equally do as a stay-at-home mum, so I registered.
Within 3months, I sold two of the company properties and enjoyed a mouth-watering commission. This motivated me to keep the ball rolling and so I put a call across to my former boss where I worked before and told him my new line of business, coincidentally he told me that he needed a landed property at that time and it's a good thing that I informed him. He further instructed that I should come down to the office with our company fliers describing each property on sale so he can make his choice and then book for an inspection.
The phone call ended with a smile on my face but then, I missed that opportunity.
What happened?
I was procrastinating! I would call or message him on different occasions but I never showed up. I don't know if it was my village people that were drumming for me🤩. This procrastination of mine about the real estate deal lingered for 3weeks and then I finally created time and went to the office. On getting to the reception, I saw a young guy, one of us in the real estate company; signing and photocopying some papers. What? I was like "are you sure I have not missed this offer?" Hmmm, the Boss came outside and was surprised to see me because I didn't inform him about my coming since I have done that in the past severally without showing up. He made me understand that he just finished finalizing the deal with the young guy in there just about 5minutes before my arrival. According to him, I should be the one pushing for the deal to be closed and not the other way round and so he waited at least to support my business the same way I supported the company and I didn't show up. He already planned for a vacation with his family outside the country and needed to make that investment before going so he opted for an alternative which was accepting the young guy's offer.
Hmm, I was sad! But then, I regret my laziness towards a good offer presented to me. He bought #60M worth of land with my company through the young guy. That young guy would have been me if not because of procrastination.10% of the #60M commission is #6M which I lost just like that. Who does that? But then I learned it the hard way! I dare not procrastinate anymore be it money aspect or anything, not again!
So imagine if I had the opportunity to travel to my past year just for ten minutes, I would rush to the office just immediately after my first phone call with my former boss and get the deal closed and become #6M richer!
