The cost of buying fuel in Nigeria nowadays is on the high side especially here in Lagos State (Lagos Island precisely). Several times, I have bought a liter of fuel at #500 via the black market though. Getting fuel from the filling station is becoming a nightmare, one can spend good 8hours in the queue just to buy fuel at the rate of #250 per liter. Imagine wasting such precious time on fuel alone, how many hours are now left for someone to achieve other things for the day? Before this current fuel scarcity saga, a liter of fuel was #168 but now #250. This price increment has affected both transport and foodstuff. In fact, Virtually every other thing, making things so difficult for the masses. I honestly pity those traveling this Christmas period because the cost of traveling from transport system companies has skyrocketed, however, I really hope they will overcome the financial stress from this aspect within this season..lol
Okay, let me not deviate much from my title...
You see this picture, I took it this morning while I was looking for bread to buy for breakfast βΊοΈ. I have been seeing some group of people sitting down in that particular spot almost every morning but I never cared to know what they normally do there. So I decided to go close and find out, behold they were all charging their phones π. You see, the situation in Nigeria can deny someone early morning sleep just to hustle and charge phones before the generous man in my neighborhood turn off his generator.
Now, about this generous man...I know the man as a good man, I have heard a lot of good things about him and I saw the water he extended outside his building for anyone in the community who has no source of water.
That's really so nice and thoughtful of him. There is no day he doesn't pump water to ensure availability for anyone who needs it. I am sure he has received lots of prayers from those who have been benefiting from his generosity. A few months ago, he built just a little sit-out for anyone who wants to stay outdoors and look around the happenings in the environment. So when this fuel scarcity and hike in price started, he extended some electrical wiring to the sit-out for anyone who may not afford to buy fuel.
Honestly, I was so challenged by this good act of his. I am thinking deeply about whatever I can do for the community to put smiles on people's faces.
Believe me, this man will forever be remembered for his good deed of him in the community. Is this not part of leaving a positive legacy? Whatever, I love it when people can think about others especially in our harsh world economy today no matter how little. Some of the people charging their gadgets told me that they run their business using their phones but due to the cost of fuel and the bad attitude of NEPA, (low supply of electricity) ..they have not been consistent until this generosity came to their rescue.
Finally, no good deed goes unrewarded, we too can touch a life today in any way and be rest assured of the blessings that follow.
