I agree that news of violence is always there. If I read a news story, children and women's groups are always the victims. In addition, in the last few months, news of domestic violence has been increasingly reported. Moreover, a number of celebrities have experienced this.
Even though on social media, I am a very happy person with my partner. When this was revealed, I was even more afraid of getting married. But, with the amount of violence, what should the state do? I think, the problem of violence is no longer a personal problem. But, a state problem. Why?
Because, the state has a mandate to protect every citizen, including in terms of violence. So, the state needs to have rules to protect its citizens from violence. Does my country have it? Yes, my country has regulations regarding cases of violence.
It's just that, these rules have not been included in other derivative regulations. In fact, the police already have policewomen who are tasked with handling cases of violence. This is progress. The name of this rule has been ratified in the legislation.
In 2022, all civil society will join forces to push for its rules. I see how civil society works hand in hand to push for the regulation. Another thing, the state agrees to input from the community. Including defining what is meant by violence.
On the other hand, civil society needs to protect itself. And report perpetrators of violence even though the perpetrators are people closest to us. Sometimes, it is difficult for us to report perpetrators because the perpetrators are people closest to us. We also need to read the rules that define violence.
So, when this happens to us, we can immediately report it to the police. Firmly, we as civil society need to eradicate violence. Don't let us also become perpetrators of violence because the case is not resolved.
Actually, Indonesia already has many regulations on violence, it's just that these regulations have not been integrated. However, in 2022 the existing regulations have been integrated and this year, these regulations have been included in the derivative regulations. Likewise, a number of other devices to support these regulations.
This is a sign that the state needs to be present to protect every citizen. Without exception. If the state is absent, who can protect citizens from a number of cases of violence? The regulation is indeed not perfect, but slowly the presence of the state is needed for its citizens. That's all I can tell you, what do you think? See you in another story.
