Is monetization a way out for social media? That's a big question for me. Actually, YouTube or Twitter and Facebook apply high standards for a number of creators to achieve monetization. So, it's not easy to do monetization.
Of course, creators need to be honest and create real content. The impact of these requirements is that many creators do clickbait. This also happens in online mass media. I have a friend who still works in online mass media.
Page preview is very important for my friend. In fact, all of these mass media are fighting to be on the first page in every news report. The impact is on the popularity and Google ads obtained by the media. Since the existence of online media, clickbait has become a way for online media in Indonesia to survive amidst increasingly developing technology.
Now print readers have shifted to online readers. This means that there is competition and opportunities in the digital world, especially readers on the internet, Google and whatever. For example, detik and Tribunnews are the mass media that do the most clickbait. And repeat the news.
When the viewership is high, the same news will be rewritten. But, even so, the mass media has a structure and commitment to presenting honest news. Although the title is often misleading, the content of the news must be from someone else's point of view. Not a personal point of view. But, I am getting tired of the mass media that presents this.
In the end, I looked for media that has good writing capacity and presents writing as it is. readers who will eventually choose different mass media because they are bored with clickbait that occurs on the Internet. That's what I feel as a reader and someone who has been a journalist.
the impact of technology, as readers we need to be selective in reading mass media. avoiding media that often do clickbait. the same goes for creators. I am also often fooled by creator hooks that are exciting but the content is deceptive. there are product advertisements. Actually, that is soft selling. but, sometimes I don't like it.
Technology and speed are challenges to clickbait. However, the commitment of the mass media is also important to present news without clickbait and fooling readers. The flow of technology is getting higher, so as readers we need to be selective in seeing this. That's all I can tell you. See you again.
