I welcome you to my entry on the 55th (03) week of the Hive Learner's Featured post, where I would be sharing my views about the oldest person in my life right now.
You would agree with me that growing older is a natural part of our life, and while it can bring its own set of challenges, it also comes with its own set of unique benefits.
In most cases, we see the elderly as burdens or something to be feared, when in reality, they are sweet and have so much to offer. They accumulate a wealth of wisdom and experience that can be valuable to the younger generations.
The Oldest Person In My Life At The Moment |

I would be using my paternal granddad as a case study of the wisdom and benefits that come with old age. My granddad is the oldest person in my life right now and I have so much to tell you all about him.
My grandpa is currently 97 years of age, and this means that he has seen and witnessed the rise and fall of generations.
My grandpa currently has 8 children who are doing great, although they were 9 children but he has lost one of his children to drowning.

For a man who has been through good and bad times, I am amazed at the strength, wisdom, and peace of mind he still possesses. Below are some important and unique qualities to know about my grandpa.
It is very obvious that this man loves his grandchildren so much, as I could always feel and see the smiles on his face each time he sees us.
My grandpa has assisted me both financially and mentally on many occasions when I was still younger. He was a very strong man in our community, arguably one of the strongest men in the community during his youthful age.
He loves it when we come to greet him first whenever we visit the village. Because I could remember an incident where he was angry that I did not come to greet him at all after visiting and spending a full day in the community.
He equally loves telling us about his past experiences when he was younger. He would always tell me about my responsibilities as the first son of my dad, and trust me when I say he is blessed with wisdom.
Times spent with him are never boring, as we would be seen laughing at his funny jokes and experiences about his youthful experiences.
To me, he is a legend who has lived and experienced it all. He gives us first hand information about the history of our nation (Nigeria), as well as the civil war experiences.
Like the saying "old age is evidence of wisdom and knowledge", I find this to be very true, as it could be seen in the behavior and character of my grandpa.
With the experience he has gotten so far, his opinions and decisions in certain situations of life are usually the best. It's as if he has witnessed and experienced it all because he gives his wise opinions to every situation bothering us as youths.

He helps us to make better decisions for the future and gives us perspective on how to improve our lives. I have equally observed that he's very appreciative and satisfied with his journey thus far.
In this world, we came and we would equally leave. This realization would make us slow down and appreciate what we have achieved rather than what we have not yet achieved.
Grandpa would always tell me not to rush or force anything in life. He told me taking things slow and easy is more rewarding and beneficial to my general well being as a human.
Through grandpa, I have learned that slowing down can give us the time we need to develop relationships with others, look at the world around us with a fresh perspective, and give us the space we need to relax and reflect.
Life doesn't always have to be about moving fast, and when we take time to appreciate the simple things in life, it can be truly rewarding.

When we take our time to slow down, we allow ourselves to be more present in our own lives, as we can use this time to process our emotions and find peace within ourselves. This can help us live with more intention and gratitude, which will ultimately make us happier.

Growing older gives us a better perspective on life and how it can lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful existence. So far, we might have viewed old age differently, but it's clearer to me now that old age is wisdom and blessing altogether.
