Hello, everyone.
designed using canva.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. Hanging around people comes with a lot of things, both fun and annoyance. Sometimes people try to make us laugh or crack jokes, but they end up making it extreme, and something we are supposed to laugh over becomes an issue.
In as much as jokes are necessary, we should know the limit and things we shouldn't joke about. Some jokes can be seen as a form of mockery, and in many cases, I have seen situations where jokes resulted in fights and quarrels, especially among ladies.
Many people take talking about somebody's height or body shape as a joke, but it's actually body shaming, and you are making the person in question feel embarrassed or ashamed of their looks. Some won't even notice the change in the person's mood, and before you know it, it has led to chaos.
Even in school, I have a coursemate who only enjoys cracking jokes with people's results. Many people try to stop him from setting his eyes on their results, or else the whole class hears about your grades from his boring jokes.
The aim of jokes is to help us stay happy and keep the hangout lively, and this is another reason why we ought to be careful and aware of the kinds of jokes we tell, the things we joke about, and even who we tell the jokes to.
A joke that was too extreme happened in school. As engineering students, we normally offer a course called engineering drawing and many pencils, like the HB, 2B, and B pencils. Each pencil is for a different use. After exams, a coursemate of mine was saying he would either throw away all of his pencils, sell them, or give them away.
After saying that, the response of another was, "Don't throw it away or give it out; what if you have carryover on the course?" He said this as a joke, but the other guy took offense and said he was wishing him bad luck.
Immediately that was said, the whole atmosphere changed as they almost fought each other but were stopped, and that's how we all dispersed to our various houses as there was no more fun in the gathering.
Another case where a joke was extreme was the one I did to my mom; I still regret ever carrying out such a prank on her. A friend of mine came to the house with a toy or rubber snake that looks so real that I decided to keep it under my mom's leg and shout that there was a snake under her leg.
I have never seen my mom with so much energy; from the cushion where she was sitting, she jumped, and the next place I saw her was at the door; that's how she dislocated her left hand when she hit her hand on the door handle. I watched her cry from the pain of a dislocation caused by me.
