Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today's topic is "Health Care," so let's dive in.
Many people believe that visiting the hospital is only necessary when they feel pain or discomfort, but checking your health regularly is just as important as treating sickness. This is how our bodies work every second of the day. Even when we are sleeping, they keep working. But just because we feel fine doesn't mean everything inside our body is working perfectly. For example, if we keep driving our cars without checking the engine, oil, tires, etc., one day, they might break down unexpectedly. That's how our body works. A simple checkup can help us find small problems in our body before they become major issues.
When was the last time I went for a medical checkup?
Sincerely speaking, I have never gone to the hospital for a medical checkup. The only time I visit the hospital is when I am sick or feeling pain in my body; if not, I won’t go, even though it’s rare for me to visit the hospital because I have a fear of injections. I hate it when doctors or nurses give me injections; it feels like they are adding to my sickness or pain.
Even my eldest sibling always tells me and my remaining siblings to visit the hospital once in a while for a medical check-up, but I never listened to her because I used to feel like am healthy, so why should I visit the hospital. But I know it's for our own good; that's why she's telling us to visit the hospital.
The only time I can remember visiting a hospital for a check-up (and it wasn’t a hospital, but a clinic) was when my eldest sibling told my fourth eldest sibling, my cousin, and me to go and find out our blood group, our blood pressure, and some other things pertaining to our health. That was in 2021; since then, I have never gone for any check-up again.
Although I know how important our health is because, as people always say, health is wealth, so our health should be our first priority, not our last. Some people put their work as their first priority and neglect their health.

The reason we are told to always visit the hospital for check-ups is to make sure there’s nothing wrong with our health and to check if we are healthy or not. For example, blood and urine samples can be tested for things like diabetes, kidney problems, etc., to see whether we are fit or not.
I think another reason some people avoid check-ups is because they are afraid the doctors might find something wrong with their body system. Some think they are fit and fine, so why should they bother visiting the hospital, while others say it's due to money problems. But avoiding check-ups doesn’t make health problems disappear; instead, it causes more problems. If we check our health early, we can easily detect any issues affecting our body and treat them before they worsen.
When would I go for a check-up next?
I have never visited the hospital for a check-up, but I am determined that this year, I will go whether it’s once or twice a year, because I can’t wait until I’m feeling pain or sickness before visiting the hospital.
In conclusion, just like we take our cars for servicing, we should also take good care of our health by getting regular check-ups. We may feel fine now, but checking our health early can help us catch problems before they get worse.
