Hello everyone
Happy weekend to you all, how did you enjoy your week? Was it a busy one for you or it went well as usual? Anyways I will be talking about freedom of speech in my country Nigeria and how it has affected so many of us.
Freedom Of Speech
Over the years, the idea of freedom of speech has seemed to evolve. While people are free to speak their minds, they are also restricted to the kind of things they can say. What are your thoughts on this? Especially how it affects us presently?
Years back, we had the courage to speak our mind and how we feel when we notice that things are no longer going well with the country. There was freedom of speech, freedom to walk or go to anywhere you wanted and you won't have to be afraid of anyone or anything. At least, the country was better before, but now everything has changed. People now kill like it's a normal thing and they won't be punished.
I still remember the law says if you kill by the sword you will die by the sword. Every crime committed back then will have to face the punishment. Though we still have freedom of speech, but are limited to some certain things. Most times when you come out to speak and it doesn't benefits the government or you're speaking against the government, you might be punished. Why do we have the freedom to speak and at the end , you might get arrested for your words? I don't understand the way the country is going, people are even afraid to come out to the public to express themselves because of what the outcome might be.
The country is currently going through a lot. some states are under war, killing each other but no one to help them out, the government is even silent about this issues. I think we shouldn't be restricted in saying our minds, everyone should be given equal rights and everyone should be treated equally..
