An Impromptu Cooking competition with my younger brother!
3
Good evening, everyone, and happy Sunday. It was so exciting in the lord's presence. I'm always expectant when I am in his presence, knowing that there is joy in His presence.
This is my cooking competition experience with my younger brother at home. It was on a December like this. My parents sponsored the competition.
By God's Grace, we grew up together with our parents and they taught us how we could relate to people around us and most especially how to do kitchen work. I applauded them for their efforts in this part.
My parents set up this plan without our knowledge, it was an impromptu competition well organized by parents to test our cooking skills and prizes attached to it.
We cooked our local food called, editan soup. Another stressful part was, that we should make a list of editan soup for myself and a fan soup for my brother since it was a home competition. I decided that we should cook different delicacies. We did different lists, writing ingredients that could be used in cooking editan soup and afan soup.
After making lists, we were given a sum of $20.00HBD, 20,000 NGN. 10,000 each. We went to the same market, going our separate ways to get ingredients for our soups. After buying our foodstuffs, we returned home as we went.
Yeah, we arrived home, we started our preparation, our parents and my aunt inspecting us, as we went about our food competition. We cooked in an open space, where enough space and a breeze were blowing us.
We set our different local fires with all the local cooking equipment. The cooking has started. Our parents were standing by, watching over the process of our cooking. My mother was teasing my younger brother, saying, "my baby boy in the kitchen". She was appraising us as her good children, giving us the approval to take a stage of challenge by cooking our traditional delicacies.
To me, I took it serious and a way of promoting our cooking abilities. While we were cooking, my dad's friends drove into our compound in their cars. Surprisingly, my dad didn't give them attention they needed, instead my dad lure them to watch us as we cook. Able men, looking at us cooking. They were so blessed by our skills. They waited to have our food tasted. Fortunately, those vistors gave me and my brother 5,000 NGN each, making it 10,000 NGN, $10.00 HBD.
At the end of the cooking competition, I won the price. Since it was within the confide of our home, both of us were awarded. My younger brother took as it a challenge, that next time he is going to take the stage. And since then, his cooking skills has grown rapidly. He is doing well, in terms of cooking and other house chores.
My mom knew that I am a good cook, she has been given me approval to cook to her visitors who came to the house. As this say goes, "study to show yourself approved, that you needed not to be ashamed of what you are doing". Competency is very crucial on anything we are doing.
Through this physical/practical competition with my younger brother, supervised by my parents. It was a big ground for me to learn the more. Both of us submitted to the authority of parents and we carries out the test with seriousness. Even though I won my brother, he was not angry, he was still smiling, and taking it upon himself that next time, he will win his elderly sister. So, we laughed. Mom and dad appreciated with incentivization rewards.
Sorry my picture would portray another delicacy, because that time I was at the verge of getting a smart phone. But this competition took place without my smart phone.
By doing this, you will stand before kings in high places. Skillfulness is sure.
