Hello, friends!
Welcome to the featured contest for the week. I thank God for a successful week He had blessed. All the days were filled with work and church activities. God has always been our strength.
Freedom of speech is essential for survival
Freedom of speech is very important for human beings. Just like the Bible says, "Speak the truth and the truth shall set you free," metaphorically, freedom of speech is essential for survival. Of course, it is.
I heard the X account has been locked. I checked this evening, and it was opened by Elon Musk. And there was a screenshot that it was open. This is what freedom of speech can do. Speech is powerful. He went into the panel and solicited for his account and it was open. I don't know about other things, but speech has brought survival to the platform of X.
Without speech, many of us would not survive, and we wouldn't defend ourselves the way we would have done in favor of social media. Freedom of speech made the social media platform the way it is now.
Freedom of speech is one of the human rights in Nigeria, and it is constituted in the constitution of Nigeria. This right was given to us. So we can have the right to express our thoughts, feelings, ideas, opinions, and many more to our freedom.
Many people use the freedom of speech negatively, which is not proper. I watched the news yesterday about how a keke man carried two women who were baby sellers, probably while they were in keke, the must-have aired to the driver's ear. On the other side, policemen were searching for them and weren't to be found, the keke man had to help the policemen by driving them to the police station. This is how they were caught, and they were jailed for their negative behavior. They asked, and they lied. See misuse of freedom of speech. Some are using freedom of speech to earn money negatively.
We all have freedom of speech in our homes, at school, in fact everywhere. Know, your right and stand by it. Another problem we have in our world, some individuals are engulfed in fear. Fear is a sin, and it has killed a lot of people when it comes to speech. I don't blame them; they aren't the type of people who can talk, but they have freedom of speech, but they can't express it. I just remembered a scenario that happened in my secondary school days, by then, I wasn't outspoken. Starting from my JSS 1, we went with our lockers. So, in my JSS 3, I liked sitting in the second line in the classroom, and something happened: our lockers were scattered. A boy in class came and fixed his locker in my place of locker, he knew this was where my locker used to be. I simply told him to take away his locker and let me fix mine, but he refused. My class prefect saw us from afar and came to my rescue. She spoke like a class prefect, her expression towards the issue came so strong that the boy moved to take away his locker.
Freedom of speech doesn't involve fighting, it involves a strong force of expression.
A few months ago, the citizens of Nigeria, went on a protest because of the economic situation of Nigeria, expressing their feelings towards the Government of Nigeria. Making complaints about food and fuel subsidies and that things should be sold at the normal price for the destitute sake. This was freedom of speech, and they were correct.
Overall, freedom of speech brings leverage, salvage, and survival, to our situation.
