THE CURIOSITY TO DRIVE
Speaking about curiosity, I think curiosity is one of the medium through which we get in touch to know some things we desire knowledge about. Curiosity is also very important to chasing our dreams and having things done in our own way and style. Living a life without curiosity may lead to one giving up so easily and too soon because curiosity lengthens our desires towards achievements.
Here i will share with you a situation of mine, how curiosity almost lead me astray into danger, but later turned into my favour. This is a story on how i literally started driving a car back in the year 2016.
2016 I was already done with my secondary high school education at this point, i and my fellow colleagues were already seeing ourselves as big boys a big girls who needed some upgrades after all. One of the biggest achievements to us then was at least driving a car or a bike as we were already planning our lives ahead of us.
Fortunately for some of my friends, they already knew how to drive a car and one of my closest friend Vincent by name who always cruise in to school with his mothers black toyota camry. It was always impressive and I loved it when i see people behind the wheels, it is very influencial.
I was already on my curious gear towards learning how to drive a car at least even if it was just moving the car forward and putting backwards, that would be just fine by me.
My uncle owned a golf car back then which he uses to hustle on the road as a taxi driver and i always help him wash the car every morning or even when he is back depending on the day. I was the second care taker of his vehicle because I do most of the washings and cleanings while my uncle was more of the driving while i couldn't even put on the car.
One faithful morning after washing my uncle's car as and cleaning the interior as usual, I decided to try something by turning on the car, and it was very easy and simple but i avoided every other thing inside the vehicle in other not to cause havock. That was my day one with the car.
On the second occasion in another day, i started the engine of the car and this time around played with the accelerator to make the car warm up. Of course i knew it wouldn't move as long as the gear wasn't counting(on park mode).
My third occasion with my uncle's car was turning it on and setting the gear to neutral and at this point i felt the car was already moving but out of shock and fear i hastily tried to stop it by matching the break pedal which i unknowingly and mistakenly pushed the accelerator and that was how the car brushed it's side mirror beside a pole right next to the garage.
Opps. This was a terrible experience for me because I was already sweating and seriously nervous. My uncle woke up later on that morning and received the breaking news. I was thinking he was going to skin me alive but unfortunately he didn't really get mad because i didn't damage the car at least it was just a side mirror that could easily be fixed.
Well this is more than 6 years ago and now i have my driving license after attending 12 weeks driving school around 2020 and I'm looking forward to get my own car by the grace of God.
Sometimes being curious can grant us things we desire even though it could lead astray sometimes, but i believe life is all about lessons, we keep experiencing and learning new things on a daily.
