What do you think
LUCK or HARD WORK?
This is a really interesting topic and I always love to add 2 or 3 cents to it anytime.
Firstly I'd say " Hard work has more impact than luck, why? This is because only a person who is prepared can seize any luck".
Imagine if luck comes your way but you aren't prepared for it what then would you do? It is only an hard working person that would seize opportunity anytime. Hard work pays much more than luck; sincerely, luck is sweet.
Luck is being opportuned to get a thing for free or at a cheaper rate. You don't necessarily need to work for luck to be on your side, it comes without any annoucement. Luck is very good as it gives ease, imagine trying to get an important signature of a government official on your document but there are about 1,000- 10,000 people who also need it. While waiting for your turn you saw someone you know who also works on the government office. After you called and exchanged greetings, he said you should follow him because he can help you get the signature faster.
See that?, you will break all protocols, rule, laws whatever guiding 10,000+ who needs the signature too. All because you got lucky, luck is really a good & sweet thing guys!
Here's why........
You don't get to predict when you get lucky, you don't get to be prepared for luck (that's for those who always wish for luck). It is a once in a while thingy, doesn't happen every time. It's occasional, it unpredictable, doesn't last for a long time.
And, here's my reason.......
HARD WORK means putting in and doing every thing necessary to get a desired result or becoming good at a thing. Hard work gives you a better chance of seizing opportunities because it meets you prepared for it.
Sincerely, luck is a good thing, yet, it's a probability, so why wait all your life on something that isn't guaranteed. Rather, get yourself to work towards seizing oppurtunities through hardwork when oppurtunity shows up.
I play the bass guitar and I am pretty good at it. I always love to go out to play in churches but because I'm quite an introvert, I rarely get to do that.
So, around October last year, on a sunny afternoon, a childhood friend of mine called me and asked if I was back home (i.e if I would come for holiday after my exams in Uni) and I said yes. He said they need a bass player for their Church convention and I gladly accepted the offer.
I went to his church the next day for rehearsal and it was awesome playing with other musicians I met there. I joined their rehearsals for 2 weeks and my t-fare was taken care of and I still had some few bucks left. Oh yeah, I still got paid well after the convention.....
I didn't predict nor expect that my friend would call me for such offer. That's luck, it just happens unexpectedly.
Still continuing the story above
After the convention ended, they loved how I played and asked if I could teach one of the boys in the choir as they needed a new constant bass player for the church.
I took the offer and I charged my price and it was accepted. I taught him well and he was able to play the root notes of songs after 3 weeks; he's even better at it now.
Now, that's Hardwork. I could only seize that oppurtunity because I had put in the required work needed to get a desired result (good at playing the bass guitar).
With this short story of my Luck and Hardwork, I hope I am able to convince and not confuse you guys that hard work has more impact than luck does?
