What is Self-Medication?
When a person uses drugs or other remedies to treat their own symptoms or illnesses without seeking professional medical advice. This often involves taking medications like painkillers, antacids, or cold remedies, as well as using home remedies or supplements.
People self-medicate for a variety of reasons, including convenience, ability, cost, or the belief that they understand their own symptoms well enough to treat them. While it can be a practical solution for minor issues, like a headache or indigestion, it can become risky when people misdiagnose themselves, use medications incorrectly, or fail to seek medical help for more serious conditions.
While self-medication can be helpful for minor, short-term problems, We have to be careful to avoid potential health risks.

When Self-Medication dangerous?
Self-medication becomes dangerous and risky when it crosses certain boundaries. such as:
Misdiagnosis
People often misdiagnose a disease without understanding the cause or symptoms and want to solve it by assuming a disease as their own. But later it shows symptoms of major diseases. In this we must see the symptoms well before diagnosing the disease.
Excessive drug use
Many of us overuse some medicines but we never think about the side effects like painkillers, sleeping pills or others which can sometimes harm our other organs. So we need to know about its side effects before taking other medicines.
Ignoring the symptoms of the disease
Many times the same thing happens again and again but we don't pay attention to it as we take medicine and later it becomes bigger. That is why we need to keep a good record of the symptoms of the disease so that we can consult a doctor at the right time. Meanwhile we have to be careful that our disease does not get bigger.
Dependence on drugs
Many of us take medicine just in case and we think it's good. But taking excess medicine can harm our body, its side effects can sometimes appear in our body. So we always try to stay away from drugs. Do not use medicine unless absolutely necessary. Both our body and mind will be good. We need to stop depending on medicine.
Besides, there are many problems that we could not solve by eye suggestions. So we must understand when to seek a doctor and when not to. Keep a close eye on any disease symptoms. And if there are additional problems, you must consult a doctor. Although many small problems can be solved here. But we have to be careful about them.
How we can solve it?
Self-medication is not bad, it is very useful at times, but if we see any additional symptoms, we must seek medical advice and stay away from over-the-counter medications. If I don't know any problem then of course we will consult the doctor so that it is not a big problem in future. This is how we can stay away from its harm.

Usually this kind of thing happens very rarely and now almost everyone goes to the doctor for any problem but some time ago someone near my house was having neck pain so he was constantly taking pain medicine but he didn't go to the doctor even if he was in extra pain. She thought the pain medication would fix it but after some time when the problem became too much, she went to the doctor for a checkup and discovered a tumor inside her body. The one that slowly got bigger might have been resolved sooner if she had gone to the doctor first but then it got bigger. That's why we have to be careful so that if we have additional problems, we must try to solve it with the doctor's advice.
